The scene, which is usually thought to be terrifying, was surprisingly taken very casually by the crew members. Wahlberg said,

“What was really sketchy is when they lit me and Dylan O’Brien on fire. They lit us on fire, and I didn’t feel too comfortable with that. They put gel and stuff on you, but then, you know, they put some other fluid on you, and then they light you on fire and then they walk away. And then the other guy goes and grabs his coffee and then he’s like, ‘Hold on a second. We ready to roll?’ And I’m like, ‘Dude, I’m on fire. Roll!’”

The actor further explained that he enjoys playing real-life characters; however, it indeed takes toil to recreate what they have gone through.

Though Wahlberg’s film Deepwater Horizon didn’t perform well, the actor did put in all his efforts and gave his best. Since the movie was based on real-life incidents, Wahlberg made sure that the film also got a realistic touch.

In the film, Wahlberg portrayed the role of Mike Williams who was the only man who survived the catastrophe. Wahlberg met him and developed an admiration for him. The actor recalled the moment when he met the real-life hero, who is modest in his own way. Wahlberg shared,

“He’s somebody that I admire for many reasons, but he hates the term, ‘hero.’ He says, ‘I was just doing my job. Doing what any of my other brothers would have done.’ He’s a pretty remarkable guy and I asked him to come and consult on the movie because we wanted to make it accurate and authentic. And we wanted to make sure he was there to make sure we were getting it right.”

Wahlberg did his best to make his audience acknowledge the deaths of those 11 people who couldn’t survive the disaster. However, to his dismay, the movie failed at the box office despite getting positive reviews from critics.
