“Dreamed of being the soldier from ‘Predator’”: Chris Pratt Wants “Big Action Hero” Status Like Father-in-Law Arnold Schwarzenegger

“Dreamed of being the soldier from ‘Predator’”: Chris Pratt Wants “Big Action Hero” Status Like Father-in-Law Arnold Schwarzenegger

When faced with the dubious question about the Guardians’ future, Chris Pratt may pretend like mum’s the word but not when it comes to singing praises about the Terminator. Understandably, generations of kids from the ’80s and ’90s grew up with the franchise that offered up such once-in-a-lifetime sci-fi movies that had everything a young mind could possibly be obsessed with – robots and time travel included right there on top of that list.

But hardly anyone other than Star-Lord himself could have the courage to seek the hand of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s daughter. Not only did he win the family’s blessing but ended up impressing the seven-time Mr. Olympia in pumping iron and in the movies.

Chris Pratt Finds a Way to Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Heart

In his relatively long career in the industry, Chris Pratt managed to already own two of the biggest characters he has portrayed in the last two decades: Andy Dwyer in Parks and Recreation and Star-Lord/Peter Quill in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy franchise. And it is the latter that has finally established him as a star among the stars, especially with his name on the letterhead of the billion-dollar IP and his prominent appearance in the mainstream timeline in 2018 and 2019.

However, it is Pratt’s final appearance as Star-Lord, captain of the Guardians, that has rocked Arnold Schwarzenegger out of the realm of politics or making statements about love and world peace. With James Gunn’s last foray as director of the epic space saga, Chris Pratt gave a performance that moved an entire fandom to tears. Schwarzenegger was impressed, to say the least, showering his son-in-law with praises and painting the Guardians 3 movie in a positive light that served as a little free promotion on the side.

In the aftermath of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s statements elevating Chris Pratt to new heights, the latter replied on a similar tangent, tipping his hat at the Governator and all his influential work that impacted and inspired the younger star to carve out a path in the movie industry.

“Arnold’s support means the world to me on a couple of different levels. Just being his son-in-law and being part of his family, it obviously means a lot to have his support. But then on another level, just being somebody who grew up loving his movies, the big action hero — I dreamed of being Commando and dreamed of being the soldier from Predator, and I loved Terminator. So him to give me kudos for going out and being on the marquee is really kind of mind-blowing.”

James Gunn’s epic final narrative and the volatile, tragic, nerve-wracking, and explosive shifts of power that worked behind the scenes to bring his vision of the Guardians to the screens shall perhaps always remain an unacknowledged secret to the generic Marvel audience. But whispers have been heard – of the heart-breaking love, loyalty, and formidable friendship that ties the Guardians cast to their director, and how much they had fought and were willing to sacrifice to bring their Captain back on deck.

The result: a beautiful, incomparable epic that knocked the breath out of the collective Marvel fandom and with its end, could hear a million hearts shattering at the loss of a family that had accepted each of us with open arms. With a current rating of 82% on Rotten Tomatoes, the final Guardians film has already hauled in $673M at the box office with numbers expected to rise over the weekend.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 is now playing in theatres worldwide.
