When it comes to crafting live-action adaptations of popular manga properties, Hollywood’s track record hasn’t been the cleanest, with some infamous examples being 2017’s Death Note and 2009’s Dragonball Evolution. And with Netflix set to bring one of the most popular manga IPs, One Piece, to the live-action medium in the form of a TV series, not many are completely solid on their vision.
Even though the trailer for the upcoming series was far from bad and appeared quite decent, fans fear that this might be Netflix’s attempt to cash on the popularity of the famous IP. And the recent revelation of Peter Gadiot’s look as Shanks didn’t help alleviate fans’ concerns.
