Halle Bailey has learned to get over this though. It would not have been easy, but you pick up habits after being subjected to rigorous trolling. Opening up about the trolling, she said in an interview with The Face,

“As a Black person, you just expect it and it’s not really a shock anymore. When [Chlöe and I] first signed to Parkwood, [Beyoncé] was always like: ’I never read my comments. Don’t ever read the comments.’ Honestly, when the teaser came out, I was at the D23 Expo and I was so happy. I didn’t see any of the negativity.”

Following the release of the film, the 23-year-old must be thinking her results bore fruit.

The Halle Bailey starrer has a blockbuster opening

The Little Mermaid had a stellar opening, making $38 million on its first day. This stellar performance run at the Box Office has proved its detractors wrong. And Twitteratis have been quick to point out how wrong they were.

Some Twitter users went on to call out the racist trolls who were behind all the hate coming her way.

Not a good day for the trolls it seems. There were many that protested against the casting of Halle Bailey and expected the movie to fail for its choices, but it all seems to be just noise as many are going to the theatres to enjoy the live-action remake of their favorite childhood flick!
