James Gunn Has Disappointing News for the Suicide Squad Fans

The future of Margot Robbie‘s return to the DCU as Harley Quinn seems a little bleak following James Gunn‘s response. On a recent podcast, with Michael Rosenbaum, the director revealed that it won’t be his first priority in the years to come and did not make any definitive statement regarding the franchise. Upon being asked about the potential sequel, Gunn replied,

“But Waller’s first. And Waller’s a lot of the same people from Peacemaker. So I mean, this is all… But yeah.”

And on further being pestered, he simply ended the conversation with a “No”. During The Playlist interview also James Gunn expressed uncertainty about his next film project within the DC universe, mentioning the possibility of working on a movie related to the characters from The Suicide Squad, but remaining unsure whether it would be a direct sequel or another project set within the same world. He said,

“I’m not sure what I’m going to do next because it could be a movie outside of [DC], but it could be a DC movie that has to do with these characters… does that mean it’s the ‘Suicide Squad’ movie or something else that’s within that world or a little bit different than that? And that I’m not exactly sure.”
