Bruce Willis got the shock of his life when the doctors diagnosed him with a variant of dementia. His family was devastated, and so were his millions of fans worldwide. The heartbreaking illness takes away the mental faculties of a person and is progressive in nature.
However, what compounded this nightmare was the depressing realization that they had not been as vigilant as they could have been with many of the early onset symptoms of the horrendous ailment. They reportedly misinterpreted many of the symptoms with other conditions and were thus unaware of the creeping demon that was slowly taking over Bruce Willis.
Bruce Willis’ Family Made this Devastating Mistake!
Since Bruce Willis began his career, his journey in the industry has inspired millions of people and his co-stars, for he is supremely talented and has given his best shot in each of his projects. In his decades-long and impressive career, the actor has achieved tremendous success and fame and ranked among the top echelons performers.
The actor has led some of the most commercially successful and critically acclaimed movies, amassing countless film credits to his name, and continued to headlines for his power-packed performances before he retired from acting in 2022 after he got diagnosed with aphasia. His family made the shocking announcement earlier this year that Willis has been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia, and this news left his fans heartbroken.
In a lengthy and emotional essay for Vogue, his daughter Tallulah Willis, whom he shared with his former partner Demi Moore, wrote how the actor’s family ascribed his early signs of dementia to “Hollywood hearing loss.” She penned that she initially thought her father had lost interest in her, but sadly, he was in the early stages of dementia. The actress further shared that when he became unresponsive, she even assumed that her father was “losing interest” in her, believing he was focused on her stepmother, Emma Heming Willis, and their two children.
Tallulah Willis Claims She Feared Her Father Was Losing Interest in Her
Tallulah Willis also stated in the essay that the film Die Hard messed up her father’s ears. She also claimed that in the early stages of dementia, when he became unresponsive, she feared he was losing interest in her. Willis wrote,
“I’ve known that something was wrong for a long time. It started with a kind of vague unresponsiveness, which the family chalked up to Hollywood hearing loss: ‘Speak up! “Die Hard” messed with Dad’s ears.’ Later, that unresponsiveness broadened, and I sometimes took it personally.”
She continued,
“He had had two babies with my stepmother, Emma Heming Willis, and I thought he’d lost interest in me. Though this couldn’t have been further from the truth, my adolescent brain tortured itself with some faulty math: I’m not beautiful enough for my mother, I’m not interesting enough for my father.”
