It has been revealed that Scarlett Johansson is working with Marvel on a new secret project that is not linked to her work as Black Widow in the MCU. The actress has made it clear in the past that she will never return as Natasha Romanoff as that “chapter is closed.”
Marvel fans were worried that the project will get scrapped due to the 2023 Writers Guild of America strike, however, it has been confirmed that it is still happening. Johannson is also getting trolled on social media as people point out that she sued Disney in 2021 and now she is working with them again.
Scarlett Johansson confirmed that her Marvel project is still happening
It was revealed that actress Scarlett Johansson is working with Kevin Fiege on a “non-Black Widow related top-secret Marvel Studios project.” No details have been revealed so far, however, it has been confirmed that the project wasn’t scrapped due to the 2023 Writers Guild of America strike. The actress told ComicBook,
“It is still happening.Yes. It is still happening, [but] not currently because nothing is happening right now. We’re all sort of in this holding pattern as we wait out the writers’ strike and potentially our own guild strike, and so on and so forth.”
The production of many American television shows and film projects has stopped due to the 2023 Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike. Roughly 11,500 films, television, news, radio, and online writers, are currently on strike as they are demanding fair pay.
The Internet reacted to the news shared by Scarlett Johansson
Shortly after the news about Johansson’s secret Marvel project was revealed, many users on the internet gave their opinions on her secret project. The announcement surely created a lot of hype.
One user also pointed out that she sued Disney in 2021, accusing the company of breaching her contract when it released her movie, Black Widow, on its Disney+ streaming service while it was still showing in cinemas. Now, it seems like she is working with them again.
Scarlett Johansson said she won’t return as Black Widow
Johansson was introduced in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2010’s Iron Man 2. Her character went on to become a very crucial part of the MCU. However, now, Scarlett Johansson feels that Natasha Romanoff’s story is finished. Johansson appeared on Gwyneth Paltrow’s The Goop Podcast and said,
“I’m done. Chapter is over. I did all that I had to do. Also coming back and playing a character again and again, over a decade of time, is such a unique experience.”
Johansson portrayed Natasha Romanoff in nine Marvel movies. She got her own self-titled solo movie in the Summer of 2021. It was only possible because it was a prequel as Black Widow died in Avengers: Endgame (2019).
