Despite Repeated Box Office Duds, Netflix, Amazon Paid Dwayne Johnson Millions More Than Many DC, Marvel Stars to Save Sinking Career

Black Adam was clearly not Dwayne Johnson’s finest piece of art even though it was his most beloved. Although celebrities like Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans may sometimes face box office failure, the OTT platforms have got their back.

With the upcoming movie titled Red One on the verge of release, reports state that platforms like Netflix and Amazon Studios pay these mega stars more income than DC or Marvel Studios even though it may result in a box office failure!

Netflix And Amazon Continue To Pay Dwayne Johnson

For a screen time of 2 hours and 5 minutes, Dwayne Johnson worked for 15 years on the creation of Black Adam. Although the movie brought in a new era of DC Studios, it didn’t earn at the box office as much as the people and Dwayne Johnson had expected.

Bringing in the new era of DC Studios that led to the formation of DCU, Black Adam served as a transitional movie that heralded the coming of change. Recent reports indicate that even though Black Adam could be considered a box office dud, streaming services like Netflix and Amazon Studios continue to pay these stars more than their Marvel or DC roles.

While starring in Netflix’s Red Notice, Dwayne Johnson earned a whopping $20 million for his role in the year 2021. On the other hand, Chris Evans also retired from the role of Captain America for quite a few years. Being relatively new to the OTT platform, Chris Evans charged a whopping $15 million for his role in The Gray Man on Netflix.

With the restructured changes in the DCU by co-head James Gunn and Peter Safran, the future of Black Adam seems uncertain. As per the latest reports, the DC and Marvel stars are about to collide for a Christmas franchise.

Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans are all set to star in a movie titled Red One. The Movie will be helmed by Amazon Studios and is set to be an action-adventure Christmas franchise for the future. The plot is currently kept under wraps but an alleged release year of 2023 is observed. The Dwayne Johnson starrer Red Notice also became a franchise when it crossed several records on Netflix.

Even though the futures of DC and Marvel characters in their universes are uncertain, the streaming services will continue to spill riches to include these mega stars in their movies or series. Red Notice is available to stream on Netflix while Black Adam is available to stream on HBO Max.
