Amy Adams has been working for a long time in the Hollywood industry and is dearly loved by her fans. Her talent as an actress is highly appreciated and she has proved time and time again that when it comes to her skill in front of the camera, she is unbeatable. However, it can be easy for actors and actresses to find one role that becomes their headstart in the industry.
Some of the biggest actors skyrocketed to fame because of one role alone. They found their breakout roles and it only went uphill from then on. There is also a way where actors and actresses can become one-hit wonders. That is, their reputable fame disappears only after one film and they try to live off the success of that alone. Amy Adams fell in neither category.
Amy Adams Was Not Confident Enough To Give Good Auditions
Amy Adams starred in a movie that had three of the biggest names in Hollywood. Catch Me If You Can not only starred Adams but also included Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks. Furthermore, the movie was directed by none other than Steven Spielberg. Although the movie had a lot to offer in terms of the fame the actress could have got, things did not go so well for her.
“I choked. I felt this pressure to suddenly be this level of actress that I wasn’t confident enough to be. I did a series of really bad auditions, I let the nerves get the best of me. And the couple of years after that it was, ‘I can’t do this. I’m not strong enough to continue with this level of rejection’. It was, ‘What am I going to do with my life?’ I was staring down 30. I was lost, confused.”
She could not get movies that would help her shine and her auditions were only getting worse and worse. Her insecurities were getting the best of her and no matter how much she tried, she kept aiming for something she was not even ready for.
Amy Adams’ Rise To Fame
It wasn’t until 2005 that things started to turn for Amy Adams. Not only did she start getting more and more movies as well as recognition, but she was also known as an Oscar-winning actress. She became one of the most famous actresses overnight. However, the way she dealt with the fame was one many were in awe of.
“Being an actress hasn’t made me insecure. I was insecure long before I declared I was an actress. I like not being noticed. It has been a struggle because I love performing, but if I’m in a group of people and someone has a bigger personality I’m like ‘Go ahead, and have fun!’ It looks like a lotta work.”
Amy Adams once said that she focused on how to hide in a crowd and would rather go on doing that than standing out.
