Christopher Nolan has given some of the most smashing hit movies in Hollywood. He is one of the most renowned filmmakers in the industry. The reason why his films do so well commercially and even audiences love everything about it is because he has his element. Every new generation actor wants to be a part of Nolan’s direction clan but it isn’t easy to work with the 52-year-old director.
He has some set rules for everyone who is going to be a part of the creative process while filming any movie. Batman Begins actor Christian Bale also had to follow Nolan’s rule although he was the protagonist in the film.
Christian Bale wasn’t allowed to touch the Batmobile during the filming of Batman Begins
Christopher Nolan cast some of Hollywood’s biggest talents in Batman Begins, which was released on June 17, 2005. Christian Bale, Cillian Murphy, and Katie Holmes were among the film’s lead stars. Just like for every cast and crew member, Nolan had set some rules for his lead actors as well. As the batmobile was one of the most significant aspects of the film, the 52-year-old actor wanted to make sure nothing went wrong with it.
The Interstellar director instructed his lead male actor Bale to not go around the Batmobile at any cost. Reports also suggest that the 49-year-old actor wasn’t even allowed to touch the batmobile unless he is doing a scene with the batmobile. For the film, a total of five batmobiles were developed. Nolan imagined the Batmobile as a cross between a Lamborghini and a Hummer. The makers of the movie and Nolan were so concerned about the Batmobile that during any action scene, they would request that the stunt driver take his time before performing any stunt.
Christian Bale recalled that once a man thought the Batmobile was a spacecraft
In an interview, while talking about the batmobile, the American Psycho actor recalled that during the making of Batman Begins a drunk man trashed the automobile. While remembering the incident, bale said,
“There was even this guy who crashed into it, this poor drunken guy who didn’t have a license. He said he got so panicked when he saw the car that he thought aliens were landing, and he put the pedal to the metal.”
He further added,
“There were a couple of times driving down the street in Chicago and when it was like, we can load it on the truck or just drive five minutes down there, and they just drove five minutes down there, and you see that thing just going down the street, and everybody is stopping and looking.”
Nolan was extremely cautious with the Batmobile because they were very expensive. The total making of the batmobiles had cost the makers a ton of money, which is why they wanted to make sure it was in safe hands always.
