Starfield is Bethesda’s first new universe in more than 25 years and the game is as massive as any other RPG game, undoubtedly spanning over a few hundred hours but it still falls behind in beating a game released 12 years ago. Bethesda’s The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was released in 2011 and is one of the largest games to date and Starfield heavily fails to beat it.
As players start their journey through this space odyssey, one question is probably crossing everyone’s mind; How long will it take to beat Starfield? Just to let them gamers know, the journey to explore the cosmos will be a long one but not as expected.
How Long Does it Take To Beat Starfield?
Honestly, Starfield is massive, but it depends on how much are the players willing to go around its world and explore. Estimates can change in gamers’ play style as to how they like to play, do they just want to get done with it in short order or are they looking to play the game for days or weeks to come? Bethesda‘s RPG games’ lengths depend on how much are the players willing to see and if the players are interested in everything that this massive game has to offer, it will take them somewhere over 180 hours for a completionist run.
The game has 19 main story quests with additional side quests and completionist players can do much more than just the main story such as spending countless hours visiting different Starfield planets and star systems, knowing about their flora, fauna, natural resources, and traits as well as the game allows players to build and customize their settlements which will take even more time.
It is also notable that the game allegedly begins once the players are done with the main story, as confirmed by Bethesda executive Pete Hines so it’d be worth it for players to finish the main story which takes around 15-20 hours and go for a completionist run and finish the game in its entirety.

Starfield Fails to Beat Skyrim
Starfield is no doubt a lengthy game with 180+ hours for a completionist run, however, it still fails to beat Bethesda’s The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, which was launched way back in 2011 and it takes completionist players 231 hours to finish the game. With an average time of 34 hours to complete the main story game, it is one of the largest games.
It is also important to note when Bethesda says that Starfield has been “25 Years in the Making,” they don’t actually mean it but wanted to convey that the core idea of such a game began long back and they have been learning and improving to get such a massive game right. So players thinking that they could just take on the game and beat it, are in for quite an adventure that will take them not less than a few days, if not weeks to beat.
