Zendaya, who earns $1 million every episode as the star of the smash series Euphoria, has recently spoken up about her struggles with money. The $20 million net worth of the 26-year-old multi-talented artist is the result of her work as a model, singer, dancer, actress, designer, and brand ambassador. Zendaya has accomplished a great deal but is still anxious about the future and the risk of losing it all.
How Zendaya Achieved Her Success
Zendaya’s rise to fame has been nothing short of incredible. She first gained attention as a model and dancer in TV ads and music videos. Her breakthrough role as Rocky Blue on Disney Channel’s Shake It Up in 2010 catapulted her to stardom among preteens and teenagers.

In addition to A.N.T. Farm, she has starred in Disney Channel shows like Good Luck Charlie, Frenemies, Zapped, and K.C. Undercover. In 2018, Zendaya made headlines when she announced her permanent departure from Disney with the tweet. And then she went on to compete in Season 16 of Dancing With the Stars, where she ultimately placed second.
In an interview with Vogue Australia, Zendaya expressed that she was right to trust her “instincts and gut.”
“There’s no real blueprint at the end of the day for any of this s**t. As people, we don’t know what we’re doing. It’s not like I can say, ‘This is the kind of career I want to have, so I’m going to do what this person did.’ I didn’t really have a map to know what the right thing was. The only kind of guide I had was my instincts and gut. So I’ve just been trying to follow that, and I think that has served me very well.”
Despite her massive wealth, Zendaya admits to experiencing financial anxiety. The actress credits her parents with teaching her about financial responsibility.
Zendaya’s Need to Keep Working
In an interview with British Vogue, she revealed that while her “mother’s a saver”, her father advocates making the most of every moment. She’s in the middle, looking for a job where she can pursue her passions without having to sacrifice her lifestyle. Still, she worries about losing everything and feels compelled to work nonstop.
“My mother’s a saver, and so I try to keep that in mind. Then my dad’s like, ‘You know, you can’t spend it when you’re dead,’ kind of thing. I’m somewhere in between. The hope is to have a career where you can be in a position, financially, to just do things you want to do because you enjoy the work and not have to worry about the other things… But I’m always like, ‘I will always need to work.’ Because if I don’t work then everything can be gone tomorrow.”
Over time, Zendaya has realized the importance of focusing on the practical aspects of her career. She admitted in an interview with Teen Vogue that the business side of her career was always something she let her parents handle.
Now that she’s older and more seasoned, however, she’s actively engaged in the business aspects of her profession. She now understands the necessity of contracts and the financial stakes in the entertainment business. So much of Zendaya’s career has already been fruitful. She plays Rue Bennett on Euphoria and is the youngest actor to win an Emmy for her performance.
