DCU CEO Claims Aim of Multiple Projects is to "Minimize audience confusion" - Knowing Full Well James Gunn Will Have Multiple Universes Running in Parallel

James Gunn is quite literally contradicting his associate Peter Safran’s words with his control of the DCU. With multiple narratives with different directors and separate universes that work on their own, the DCU has once again found a way to be more messy and chaotic than during Zack Snyder’s time.

However, this chaos is not a bad thing…if the movies and multiple projects connect somewhere. Peter Safran, the co-CEO of DC Studios recently stated that their aim is to “minimize audience confusion” despite James Gunn creating different universes for every DCU movie that gets released!

James Gunn Managed To Throw The DCU Into Further Chaos!

Well, during Zack Snyder’s time, there were two universes namely the DCEU and the DCAU. In the DCEU every project, movie, or series somehow connected with each other throughout a fixed narrative and timeline of Zack Snyder’s run.

After James Gunn took over as the co-CEO of the DC Studios, things became more complicated. Shortly before Gunn’s reign, the 2022 Matt Reeves movie The Batman was released. Being a reboot of the original Batman, it was announced that Matt Reeves’ version of Batman and all the sequels and projects will be a part of a different universe not included in the DCU.

In recent reports, the other co-CEO of DC Studios, Peter Safran stated that their aim with the DCU is to minimize audience confusion as much as possible, Stating that they aim for a chaos-free reign of the DCU, Safran stated that they want to maximize audience entertainment.

“The good news is, if you’ve seen nothing that we’ve done before, you can watch Superman Legacy, you can watch Creature Commandos, you can watch Peacemaker season two, and you can watch Blue Beetle. All of that. We are trying to minimize audience confusion and maximize their enjoyment.”

Gunn seems to directly contradict these words since the director may or may not have created multiple universes accidentally.

Before these words were said by Peter Safran, Matt Reeves’ The Batman was already given its own separate universe. Although the character would still remain a property of DC, the Reevesverse would not be used in the DCU.

Alongside Matt Reeves, there are rumors of a Justice League Dark project in the works which will feature John Constantine alongside the Justice League. If the project is indeed released, it would once again be a different universe than the DCU. And the cherry on the top is the DC Animated Universe which seems to be completely unbothered by what is going on in the main universe.

So to top it all off, there are currently 3 different universes running alongside the DCU and Peter Safran aims to maximize the entertainment by reducing the chaos and the clutter. The decision now rests with James Gunn on how he wants to handle the situation.
