Before James Gunn and Peter Safran took charge of the DC Studios, the editing of DC movies was done under the supervision of David Zaslav. It was heavily rumored that Ben Affleck would return in his iconic role of Batman in the future of DCU until James Gunn interfered,
Gunn reportedly changed the ending of the recently released Ezra Miller starrer The Flash. The updated ending essentially killed any hope for a SnyderVerse alongside the return of Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck in their iconic roles which allegedly resulted in the failure of the movie!
James Gunn Allegedly Ruined The DCU By Changing The Ending?
Before James Gunn and Peter Safran took over and after Zack Snyder had left the DCEU, the CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery David Zaslav, Pamela Abdy, and Michael De Luca were in charge of keeping the DCEU alive.
Zack Snyder left traces of his vision of the Justice League in every movie that he created in the DCEU. There was a moment when Ezra Miller’s Flash appeared in the 2016 movie Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. This could have been directly connected to the original ending of The Flash (which was recently released) until James Gunn decided to cut the cord and rewrite the ending.
A report claims that De Luca had originally set the ending in such a way that it would open doors for Man of Steel 2, The Batman (with Ben Affleck), the Dark Knights, and more. This all could have become a reality if James Gunn would have left the ending untouched. As per the reports, Gunn changed the ending of The Flash which resulted in some average cameos and another DCU failure to its name.
Ben Affleck Will Not Appear In Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom
With the actor unconfirmed to reprise his role as Batman in the DCU, new reshoots of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom gave the people some saddening news. As per sources, the movie underwent a third reshoot with James Gunn and director James Wan working. The source stated that Ben Affleck’s Batman will not be featured in the movie.
The report stated that Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will neither have Michael Keaton nor Ben Affleck reprising their role of Batman in the movie. After Henry Cavill’s exit from the DCU, Ben Affleck’s future has been uncertain regarding his role as Batman. People can only hope that Affleck continues to portray the character of the caped crusader in James Gunn’s DCU.
