Zack Snyder and his relationship with Warner Bros. has been in limelight since the whole Justice League fiasco took place. It can be also cited as one of the primary reasons why this Cinematic Universe is subjected to so much hate and criticism. Although it has been a long time since everything occurred, the fans still demand the studio to go forward with the Snyderverse. According to some experts, these fans are a significant contribution to the force that’s destroying DC.
A few rumors still state that the new heads of the studio under David Zaslav may work on reviving Zack Snyder’s vision but the chances are very minor. Moreover, The Flash movie reportedly rebooting the franchise further decreases the possibilities.
The toxicity of the Zack Snyder fans
Zack Snyder headlined the news when the sudden demise of his daughter forced him to leave the Justice League project. Further, the criticism of the movie catapulted when the Avengers director Joss Whedon was brought in to direct the project only to be made a joke popularly known as the Josstice League. Even though the fans forced the studio to release a massive 4-hour-long director’s cut yet the studio also stood strong and is still unwilling to expand the Snyderverse.
According to reports, these fans are causing a toxic atmosphere in the studio. A talent rep. claimed that the DC is getting divided by the Zack Snyder fans who are still stuck with the notion of Snyder being the ultimate savior of DCEU:
“DC is so fragmented,” says one talent rep. “J.J. [Abrams] had this one, Zack Snyder had that one, Todd Phillips had the other thing. And they’re all such huge egos.”
It can’t be surely said that Zack Snyder’s ark is the only thing capable of carrying the falling studio on its back. But it is undeniable that Zack Snyder and Warner Bros. Discovery’s Cat-and-Mouse-Esque relationship affects the DC fanbase a lot.
Is there still a chance for the Snyderverse?
Long ago when Zack Snyder’s Justice League hit the HBO Max platform, WBD denied its association with the project. But after the new CEO David Zaslav entered the picture, things began to change. His vision of a long-term future like its rival MCU and his desire of making more theatrical event films raised hope among the fans.
But there have been no updates regarding the Snyderverse from the studio yet which shows very fragile chances of its revival. With the upcoming Flash movie receiving a brilliant test score, it may be hoped that Zaslav’s leadership can be trustworthy and maybe it’s time we give another chance to DC to settle itself. And the upcoming movies might turn out to be a hard reply to the haters.
