While Emilia Clarke may remember herself as a tough cookie after burning down the tent with the Khals inside, she doesn’t have very fond memories of the episode otherwise.
Game of Thrones star has some bittersweet feelings about the franchise and the way she had to film certain scenes that didn’t go well with her.
In a conversation with Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos on their talk show, Emilia Clarke confessed how she had a hard time filming NSFW scenes that didn’t impress people close to her.
It wasn’t until she turned the tide on her vulnerable character that got pushed around, that people started to see how capable of an actor she actually is.
Emilia Clarke Felt Immensely Proud of Her Dangerous Scenes
Let’s face it, we had all been waiting for Clarke to actually become what she was supposed to be – Queen Daenerys Targaryen. And HBO didn’t disappoint us.
The massive fire, the egg hatching a little dragon out, and Emilia Clake in all her nak*d glory rising from the ashes. The scene has been registered as one of the most powerful on TV.
“This is all me, all proud, all strong,” she told EW in a 2016 interview.
Clarke stated that even after her most formidable performances, she couldn’t impress her own pals back home.
She recollected trying to get her parents to watch the show –
“You guys watching the show tonight?”
“Yeah, maybe. We’ll get it on HBO, or something, whatever,” said Clarke’s parents according to her. “No, watch tonight, watch that one. And they were trying to get the spoilers out of me, and it didn’t work anyway.”
She further added that despite being super excited about her performance, she ended up regretting her decision to look for approval.
Emilia Clarke’s Parents Questioned Her Efforts In The Show
Kelly Ripa had her own fun with Emilia Clarke as she asked her about the Book of the Stranger episode that burned all of the latter’s clothes in the fire making her the real Mother of Dragons.
“Did you watch the episode with your parents?” – asked Ripa.
“It was kind of, I think my parents were like, so watching the show, and did it, ‘But you know, darling, you’re not doing much… in this season,’” chuckled Clarke.
We can’t blame Emilia Clarke for being that much excited as she landed her major breakthrough role in a huge budget-intensive show.
Her character as Daenerys Targaryen became the strongest character throughout the show. But, much to her dismay, she couldn’t get her parents to feel that enthusiasm.
Now, she recently joined the MCU with the Disney+ series Secret Invasion.
