Daniel Craig Set to Return in Knives Out 3
Rian Johnson was rather busy writing the scripts of the Knives Out sequel and his reported Star Wars project. But when asked about lies ahead, in an interview with Wired, Rian Johnson stated that he has already started working on the third Knives Out movie. He claimed,
“So much of what I’m trying to do, because I’m starting to write the next one, is really just about trying to clear my head and think about what’s on my mind right now. Hopefully that translates in some way to what’s on all of our minds right now in terms of culture.”
Further, when he was asked about the plot, Johnson said, “No. You got any ideas for me?” As the first two movies took place in the spring and summer respectively, it is highly possible that this time around the time frame for the third movie could be in winter, with November as its prime setting.
Rian Johnson also claimed,
“I’ve tried hard to make them self-contained. Honestly, I’m pissed off that we have A Knives Out Mystery in the title… The whole appeal to me is it’s a new novel off the shelf every time”
This means that the third movie will be set in a new location, with new characters and a new plot with Daniel Craig’s Benoit Blanc as the main protagonist solving the mystery as the private detective. The third film could also explore more about his personal life setting up the chance of a return for Hugh Grant’s character.
