Xolo Maridueña explains why Blue Beetle will be different from previous Superhero entries
Widely known for his performance in the critically acclaimed show Cobra Kai, Xolo Maridueña has been pretty outspoken about his love and excitement for his upcoming DC project. Apart from sharing his excitement for the movie during his time at CinemaCon, the actor explained his reasons why Blue Beetle will be a much different experience for fans than previous superhero entries.
According to the actor, unlike most Superhero flicks, which follow a solitary journey, Blue Beetle will focus on the whole family, and alongside his character, they will also witness some heroic arcs. Another reason that the actor stressed while explaining why the upcoming movie will be different was his belief that his character might be the only hero who doesn’t want his powers. He said,
“I think he’s the only person ever to get superpowers and not want them.”
However, the latter reasoning by the actor wasn’t well received among fans as Xolo Maridueña’s hero isn’t the only Superhero that has expressed his hatred for superpowers on the big screen.
Twitter blasts Xolo Maridueña due to his inaccurate claims
Following the recent statement of Xolo Maridueña about his character might be the only one who doesn’t enjoy having superpowers, fans haven’t reacted well to the actor’s absurd claims. Over the years there have been several superheroes, who have showcased their disdain for their superpowers on the big screen, and one popular example is Marvel’s Hulk. Fans also haven’t shied away from trolling the Cobra Kai star for his claims through Twitter.
Even though Xolo Maridueña might not be aware of other Superheroes who hated their superpowers, it doesn’t take away the fact that he might be a great choice for the role of Blue Beetle. And considering that the movie has garnered great reviews from its early screenings and appreciation from James Gunn, it’s reasonable to assume that Maridueña might have done a great job with his role.
Blue Beetle will hit theatres on 18 August 2023.
