“Cringe” Emilia Clarke Secret Invasion Drax Arm CGI Has Fans Convinced Marvel VFX Team is Stretched Too Thin: “Is this a PS3 game or PS4?”

In a surprising turn of events, the last episode of Secret Invasion has garnered the unfortunate title of being the lowest-rated episode in Marvel’s history. The sixth and final installment of this limited MCU series faced a barrage of almost unanimous negative reviews from critics.

Amidst a medley of varied reviews for the entire series, the finale of the show struck a particularly dissonant chord, achieving an abysmal approval rating of merely 13% on Rotten Tomatoes. The AV Club minced no words in their assessment, labeling the series as a “waste,” with sharp critiques directed at the storyline’s shortcomings and the underutilization of talented actors like Samuel L. Jackson and Emilia Clarke.

Fans Left Unimpressed By Secret Invasion’s CGI

Fans have been vocal about their critiques regarding the CGI employed in Secret Invasion, with particular emphasis on a scene depicting Emilia Clarke’s character’s arm undergoing a transformation into Drax’s arm. They have speculated that the CGI team at Marvel is really short-staffed.

Critics have pointed out several issues with Secret Invasion, including rushed CGI, unexciting fakeouts, and a surprisingly short duration of only 30 minutes. Many have questioned why the series was cut so brief. While the Fury storyline receives praise for its conclusion, other aspects of the show are criticized for their poor execution. Similar to Moon Knight, Secret Invasion is acknowledged to have strong characters, but its weak finale and limited six-episode length have left some feeling unimpressed and disengaged.

With its roots in the well-loved Secret Invasion comic storyline, the show garnered immense anticipation. The plot revolves around a race of shape-shifting aliens’ grand scheme to conquer Earth by infiltrating human society, taking on the appearances of various individuals worldwide. The series boasted a star-studded ensemble cast, further fueling the excitement among fans and viewers.

Director Not Bothered By The Show’s Underwhelming Reception

In a recent conversation with Variety, Ali Selim, the creator of Secret Invasion, delved into the topic of the show facing criticism and backlash. When asked about his approach to handling negative comments, the director offered his response.

“Oh, I don’t read reviews. With all due respect. For me, I view all the storytelling work I do as a dialogue with an audience. When the show is finished and put up on the screen, that’s my half of the dialogue. And the audience then starts their half of the response to it. I think that’s valuable, but I don’t know. I don’t know how to answer the question.”

Despite its potential, Secret Invasion fell short of receiving the adoration it deserved from fans, who voiced their complaints about the show’s perceived underwhelming plot. Secret Invasion can be streamed on Disney+.
