According to insider leaks, Sony is reportedly planning another PlayStation Showcase this year. After the recent cancellation of E3 and the transition to smaller digital events during the pandemic, a lot was riding on this year’s PlayStation Showcase. However, many were dissatisfied with the games on show, despite big reveals such as a PS5 Remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater and a gameplay trailer for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

Although there were a lot of titles featured at the Showcase such as Ghostrunner II, Phantom Blade, and Sword of the Sea, that pleased some fans, there was still disappointment in the air considering all the games that were “supposed” to be there. Overall, there were some heavy hitters missing that were “leaked” before the Showcase such as the rumoured Ghost of Tsushima sequel, Death Stranding 2 and an update on Marvel’s Wolverine.

The Sequel: What Could the Second PlayStation Showcase Have in the Store?
According to Kotaku’s Ethan Gach, another PlayStation Showcase and a Nintendo showcase are planned for later this year. However, Gach’s tweet could just be about more PlayStation State of Plays which could be anything from a slate of brand new game reveals or a deep dive on an upcoming game we know of like Bungies next big game Marathon or Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
Whether it is another big Showcase or a smaller PlayStation State of Play, you have to hope that Sony will proceed to bring back the ‘WOW’ factor that was sorely missed from the most recent event.
