In an industry where actors want stunt doubles to perform their stunts, we have Tom Cruise. The actor is widely known for performing all his own death-defying stunts. He has performed his most insane stunts for the Mission: Impossible franchise. The actor was never asked to perform those stunts but it seems like he loves the thrill.

Tom Cruise performed the airplane stunt himself
A scene in Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation saw actor Tom Cruise hanging from a real plane as it takes off. The scene is authentic as no visual effects were used and Cruise performed the stunt 8 times five thousand feet in the air.
The actor explained that he did the stunt to “outdo himself” after the actor climbed Burj Khalifa in Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol (2011). The actor wanted to know what it feels like to be on the wing or on the side of the airplane. The crew faced several difficulties while shooting the scene.

The crew was worried about the actor’s safety
Everyone was concerned about Tom Cruise’s safety as the stunt was indeed very risky. The actor wanted to know what it feels like to be on the wing or on the side of the airplane. There were several concerns, including bird strikes and wind resistance on the runway.
A special wind-resistant custom frame was built for the camera and was mounted onto the left wing of the Airbus A400M. Cruise also had trouble keeping his eyes open due to wind and runway particles, so he got a special lens that covered his entire eyeball.
Tom Cruise got injured six times while shooting the movie
