‘Continue it as an elseworlds universe’: After Justice League’s Green Lantern Star Wayne T. Carr Voices Support, Fans Urge James Gunn to Sell SnyderVerse To Netflix for Justice League 2

After Justice League's Green Lantern Star Wayne T. Carr Voices Support, Fans Urge James Gunn to Sell SnyderVerse To Netflix for Justice League 2

James Gunn has been facing issues with fans of the DC Universe ever since he began his run as the co-CEO along with Peter Safran. From the removal of Henry Cavill to getting blamed for nepotism, things haven’t been going too well for the filmmaker. Although, the recent announcement of his slate for the superhero universe’s upcoming Gods and Monsters chapter has been fairly well received by the fans.

However, that absolutely does not mean that people have forgotten Zack Snyder and the SnyderVerse. Ever since the director left the Studios and took the SnyderVerse along with him, fans have been calling to revive the story and possibly continue them in an Elseworlds universe. Starting numerous trends on Twitter, fans want James Gunn to sell the SnyderVerse to Netflix and they even have the support of actor Wayne T. Carr who was supposed to play Green Lantern in Zack Snyder’s Justice League.

Things have not been looking up for James Gunn as fans want him to sell the rights to SnyderVerse to the major streaming platform, Netflix. The trending Twitter hashtag, #SellSnyderVersetoNetflix, has a lot of supporters, including actor Wayne T. Carr. The actor almost played Green Lantern in Zack Snyder’s Justice League but he was unfortunately cut from the film.

He has been an avid supporter of the hashtag and recently wished his followers a Happy Valentine’s Day, posting a photo of him and Snyder. Along with the photo, he also added the hashtag, #SellSnyderVersetoNetflix in the caption. Carr also posted another image of all individual Justice League logos surrounding the one JL logo. He stated that while many things might not make much sense to him, some do, referring to the SnyderVerse. Of course, he did not forget to add the hashtag in the caption.

Even though Carr was cut from the film, he has shown support for both the film and the SnyderVerse. A lot of fans definitely relate to him as they want nothing more than to see the SnyderVerse get revived. While everything that Gunn and Peter Safran are doing might be met with positive feedback, there is no doubt about the fact the fans want the SnyderVerse to return, even if it’s through Netflix. The hashtag has heavily trended on Twitter and it does not look like it will stop anytime soon.

Despite what the fans want, the possibility of the SnyderVerse being sold to Netflix is next to none. Gunn and Safran aside, even Snyder himself seems to have left that world behind him. Will the fans’ pleas ever be heard? The answer, unfortunately, doesn’t seem to be in favor of the fans.

James Gunn Reacts to the Hashtag

There was no way the hashtag wouldn’t have reached the DCU bosses themselves with the speed with which tweets are flowing. When a fan tagged Gunn on a tweet asking to sell the SnyderVerse to Netflix, Gunn clapped back at them stating that it was the “wackiest thing ever.” Now, Gunn has always responded to both his fans and haters on Twitter and there was no way he’d let the hashtag slide.

He presented the followers of the hashtag with two straight facts. One, Netflix does not have any interest in the deal, and two, the man himself, Snyder, hasn’t expressed any interest either. He stated that Snyder was happy with where he is right now.

So, neither Gunn, Netflix, nor Snyder has given the deal any thought. Needless to say, the deal looks like a no-go, unfortunately. Adding to this, the Suicide Squad director had previously stated that in order to ease tensions about control, Warner Bros. cannot interfere with the cinematic universe. While all the signs are pointing in the direction of a thumbs down, fans aren’t losing hope as the hashtag continues to flourish on Twitter.

Zack Snyder’s Justice League is available to stream on HBO Max.
