Call of Duty Gives Us the Best Lara Croft Design in Years

Lara Croft

Fans of Tomb Raider and Lara Croft may be interested by the latest news coming out of Activision. In a rather surprising twist, the video game company has decided to unveil their own take on the iconic character who will be featured in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone as part of Season 5 Reloaded.

But it was the character design of Lara Croft which made many in the Tomb Raider Community sit up and take notice and following the images released by Activision, many fans are regarding this version of the character the most “unified.” It’s certainly a long way from the character many first experienced back in 1996.

What’s the Latest on Lara Croft in Call of Duty?

First look at Lara Croft for Modern Warfare 2 Season 5 Reloaded

What we do know is Lara Croft will be available as a store bundle operator as part of a Tracer Pack, which is due to launch on 9 September. The bundle itself will consist of three weapon blueprints, the “ice axe” melee weapon, and her look wouldn’t be complete without the duel wield Mach-5 pistols, which of course can be incorporated in her Finishing Move “Play for Sport.”

The bundle is also confirmed to include a loading screen, sticker, emblem, and a “Tomb Buggy” Vehicle Skin for the chop top. What more could a Lara Croft fan want?

And Lara Croft isn’t the only new operator bundle  dropping soon. Rapper, 21 Savage, will also feature with his own bundle due to drop on August 30th and one of the Call of Duty’s OGs “Mace” will return with his operator bundle due to release some time in September.

Lara Croft
Lara Croft has certainly come a long way since the early years

Fans of Lara Croft took to Social Media with many praising the new look:

“I cannot believe that COD is giving us the long overdue Lara Croft that CD should have done like 10 years ago…I hope that this isn’t a one time off, I hope that the new Lara is something like this!” – @theMaxTero

“A very nice operator skin that arguably makes more sense to be added into the game compared to others.” – @BENZOYT_

But it seems not everyone is happy with the latest news regarding one of the most loved and lusted after characters in video game history:

“Why is the best looking 3D model we’ve ever had of Lara Croft a BONUS CHARACTER in a COD game?!” – @Skatornate

“Why is Lara Croft coming to cod???? What the **** is going on with this franchise.” – @Xeno_ForeignDom

Could the addition of the character just be an attempt to bring in or bring back players who’ve abandoned the franchise recently? It could be that they have seen the numbers taking a nosedive and are scrambling at how to rectify it. Time will tell.

But what are your thoughts on the latest news for Call of Duty and Lara Croft? Are you happy with the look of the character? Or are you disappointed the character design is being wasted on a game like Call of Duty? Get in touch, drop us a comment, and let us know your thoughts.
