During Microsoft’s recent court battle with the US Federal Trade Commission, the CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment Jim Ryan was brought in to discuss the court battle and how he feels it will effect the future of Cloud Gaming. Jim Ryan had pre-recorded a video to be used in the court trial to explain his concerns on this deal between Microsoft and Activision Blizzard.

What are Jim Ryans opinion on Cloud Gaming?
During the trial between Microsoft and FTC, Jim Ryan was able to include his opinion on the scenario of Cloud Gaming and whether or not Microsoft gaining access to Activision Blizzard will give them a monopoly on Cloud Gaming. The main question that was asked to PlayStation’s Jim Ryan was when he thought Cloud Gaming would be a commercial success or become a major part of the gaming community. To this, he stated that he isn’t sure when Cloud Gaming will become a larger part of the gaming industry, but at this moment in time, there are still a lot of issues that need to be worked on before it can be properly released.
Also mentioned was how Sony is currently investing in Cloud so that when it does become a lot more popular and viable that they will already be in the running. Currently, PlayStation are even at the point of testing Cloud Gaming on PS5 consoles which will eventually be offered to PlayStation premium members; there is no information on when this will be released, but it is being worked on and can be expected within the next two years, which has been stated by Jim Ryan as he expects Cloud Gaming to take off between the years of 2025 to 2035.
What is in store for the future of Cloud gaming?
At this time, Cloud Gaming is still in its early stages. Many different platforms have attempted to use Cloud Gaming, but so far, to no avail; Cloud Gaming can be seen in the early stages of PlayStation 5 as numerous games from older consoles can be streamed using the Cloud to be able to play those games on the PlayStation 5.
Currently, no developer is very far into creating a working and consistent Cloud Gaming system, but when they do, it is said that if done right, it may become a rather sought-after concept that can bring a unique style of gameplay. As of now, the most recent example of a Cloud Gaming system was Stadia, which unfortunately has fallen through and is no longer active. Hopefully, Sony and Microsoft, and more developers can learn from Stadia’s mistake and can ensure that the Cloud Systems they are developing can work to a good standard whilst ensuring that they have plenty of games and an easy-to-use system.
