But taking a step back and looking at his past, there was a time when he too was a kid, and just like most young adults, he wanted to stand out from the rest and be wanted and respected by everyone. And according to him, one of the biggest hurdles in becoming cool was his name.

During the time of his then-upcoming NBC show Young Rock, the star was part of a Television Critics Association panel discussion, where he revealed the truth behind a scene from the show where he introduced himself as Tomas to a girl in his class. Talking about it, he revealed that he used to do this in real life as well since he wanted to talk to girls, and Tomas was a way cooler name than what his parents named him. Looking back, he also added that he definitely had an identity crisis, saying.
“I didn’t want to be known as Dwayne when I moved from high school to high school. I called myself Tomas. Girls used to call the house and ask for Tomas and my mum would go, ‘I’m sorry. There’s no Tomas here’. Clearly, I had an identity crisis.”
While his name may have become one of the most recognizable in the world, this simple and innocent revelation just goes to show the star was just like any other kid back in the day.
