As per reports that indicate good fortune for the Peaky Blinders actor, Cillian Murphy’s fee for Oppenheimer is pretty high. What’s even more harrowing is that despite the presence of Robert Downey Jr. and Matt Damon in the movie, Murphy took the cake in the end.
Cillian Murphy Was Paid A Whopping Fee For Oppenheimer!
With a budget of $100 million, Christopher Nolan set out to recreate the moment of the testing of the first atomic bomb. Universal Pictures gave Nolan everything he wished for. And with the leading man of the film, Cillian Murphy also found himself on the fortunate side of things.
As per the reports, Cillian Murphy was paid a high amount of $10 million for the lead character of J. Robert Oppenheimer in the movie. With Robert Downey Jr. portraying the role of Lewis Strauss, the fees for the Iron Man actor were very less compared to Murphy. What’s harrowing is that even though Matt Damon was also in the movie and even he was also paid less than the Batman Begins actor.
Robert Downey Jr. was paid $4 million for his role as Lewis Strauss and Matt Damon was also paid $4 million for his role as Leslie Groves in the movie. According to the reports, Matt Damon downgraded his fees to work alongside Christopher Nolan.
Cillian Murphy Says Peaky Blinders Fame Could Ruin Experiences
With a fee of $2.2 million per episode of Peaky Blinders, Cillian Murphy found fame by portraying the character of Tommy Shelby. In a recent interview, the actor revealed that the Tommy Shelby lifestyle was quite harmful as his fame ruined several experiences for the actor.
“[It] can ruin experiences, because it fetishizes everything: you can be walking down the street and someone takes a picture like this is a fucking event. It kind of destroys nuance and human behavior, but that’s part and parcel of it. Fame evaporates with regularity.”
