With at least 92 films under his belt, the Pulp Fiction actor has showcased his acting chops by continuously captivating the viewers with his performances. Walken has a commanding presence and with a serious face like his, people are easily scared of him. As a result, Mel Gibson described him as demonic, and he even managed to scare Denis Villeneuve, the director of Dune 2.

Christopher Walken’s Arrival On The Set of Dune 2 Petrified Denis Villeneuve

With a commanding voice, stern face, serious expression, and spooky presence, but most importantly it was the type of roles that he used to play on-screen. Christopher Walken used to play serious and scary characters in his films and TV Series that were very intense, and it gave people shivers down their spine.

When other celebrities watch him play such roles regularly would start to think of him as the character that Walken is playing. People are usually afraid of the actor, and such was the case with Denis Villeneuve. During an exclusive interview with Empire, the Prisoners director stated when Walken arrived on the set of Dune 2, his arrival on the set petrified him, he called the actor “unpredictable, poetic and powerful.”

Patrice Vermette, the production designer of Dune 2 also stated in the same interview that The Deer Hunter actor’s casting as the film’s villain was an easy choice, calling it a “no-brainer” because of the general image he possessed in the industry.

“Speaking of villains, the movie will finally introduce the Padishah Emperor Shaddam IV in the flesh, and Villeneuve made it clear that casting Christopher Walken in the role was a no-brainer because ‘there’s something about that man that commands respect.'”

Walken’s scary presence had also once scared a young Mel Gibson, as he had petrified the charismatic actor when he met the veteran actor for the very first time.

Mel Gibson Calls Christopher Walken “Anti-Christ”

An old interview from 1998, featuring Mel Gibson where he was talking about his disconcerting opinion of the movie industry had gone viral, and it sparked several conspiracy theories within the online community following his comment.

The Mad Max actor states that the maze-like path of Hollywood reeks of deception, and he mentions how Christopher Walken was one of those celebrities who had an unsettling and eerie aura around him. He acknowledged, “I thought, Oh no. Chris Walken is the anti-Christ, you know.” Gibson’s comment about Walken was not right because, despite his looks and eerie aura, he is a legendary actor who has contributed to Hollywood with his captivating performances.
