When it comes to being a part of a massive franchise, Chris Pratt is no stranger to getting involved. Chris Pratt Shortened His Lifespan By Doing A Gruelling Scene

Chris Pratt first gained recognition from his role in Parks and Recreation, where he played the role of Andy Dwyer, and his portrayal of the character was phenomenal because he radiated an entrancing charm and innocence that made the character so fun to watch. Hence, fans of the show keep returning to see the series again bringing them joy.

During an episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, Chris Pratt shared how his weight used to change while doing the series, and even though it was unintentional, he got fat.

“I remember in the first couple of seasons, just unintentionally, I had gotten a little fat. And I was watching the episodes, it was like, ‘Oh, god, Chris. You’ve really let yourself go.’ And then I was like, ‘But this is some of the funniest stuff you’ve ever done.’”

The Delivery Man actor continued that while doing the series, he leaned into his weight gain. However, there was a particular scene that connected Parks and Recreation with Jurassic World, as it took place in a fictional restaurant called Jurassic Fork. The actor told Kimmel, “I didn’t have anything to say in the scene, so I decided I would eat one rack of ribs per take.”

Chris Pratt added that they ended up doing 12 takes, and his primary objective was to make co-star Nick Offerman laugh. So he kept it going into lunch, eating four more racks. Jimmy Kimmel joked, “You shaved maybe three and a half years off your life.”

Although, the actor gained weight in the series, as he stated that he gave up on beer and exercised to lose 50 pounds in one month. While people would think that the actor is health conscious but in reality, he had to get in shape for the role of Peter Quill/ Star-Lord in Marvel’s Guardian of the Galaxy.

Chris Pratt Set The Bar Low For His Success At Marvel

Before becoming a prominent name in Hollywood, Pratt was dying to showcase his acting prowess and become a global star. He got that chance when he starred in Marvel’s Guardian of the Galaxy as Peter Quill/ Star-Lord. This was a dream come true for him as he had earlier stated that he was a Marvel fanboy and that he had been eyeing to be a part of the franchise for a long time.

In a separate episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, the Zero Dark Thirty actor said that he had set the bar incredibly low as he did not want want “to go back to serving food to people.” And how he just wanted to take that opportunity.

“I had been dying to do something like that my whole career, so no, I’ve been very grateful the whole time. Mostly I set the bar low enough –‘Don’t want to go back to serving food to people’ — and then, superhero was way above that bar. So, I was gonna take it.”

Chris Pratt finally got the big break he was looking for, as he played the lead role in the film. Due to the film’s comic elements, Pratt and his co-stars pull it off like pros, and James Gunn’s direction pushed the franchise to soaring heights. As it went on to become one of the most popular franchises of Marvel, fans never got bored of watching the Guardians save the day.
