Marvel’s Thor has been a fan-favorite character due to his Norse mythology roots, compelling comic book presence, and successful portrayal in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With his god-like powers, mighty hammer Mjolnir, and complex persona, the character has the ability to keep the audience hooked.
Chris Hemsworth’s portrayal of the God of Thunder in the MCU further elevated his popularity. The character’s involvement in the Marvel universe, alongside other iconic superheroes, and his relatable journey of self-discovery make him a beloved and entertaining figure. From mythology to comics and blockbuster films, the character’s cultural impact has solidified his fame as a remarkable and iconic character. Over the years, fans have got different iterations of the character, including a timeline where he is not the God of Thunder.
In this timeline, Thor is not the God of Thunder
Published on August 24, 2022, the comic Avengers Forever #8 introduces the readers to the Thor of Earth-56337. This version of Thor went through intense suffering as he watched Asgard burn, watched Midgard be defiled, and couldn’t do anything. No longer worthy of Mjolnir, the character dwells on the planet seeking a purpose.
When Thor finally makes contact with Mjolnir with a punch. As per the comic, the superhero’s punches “made the hammer know pain” and it “encouraged him to punch it even harder.” The whole scenario is witnessed by Lei-Kung the Thunderer.
Thor becomes the God of Fists
The comic then clarified that Iron Fist doesn’t exist in this timeline and so, under Lei-Kung the Thunderer’s guidance, the character becomes the guardian of the immortal Iron Fist as with each punch, he forged his fists into a deadly weapon.
This storyline is surely an interesting one and it makes one think how it would affect the MCU. Fans would love to see Chris Hemsworth‘s Thor wielding the power of Iron Fist. The character was born with the title of God of Thunder while he had to suffer and work hard to earn the title of God of Fists.
What makes Thor a popular character?
Without a doubt, Thor’s appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe made the character famous. Thor’s portrayal in the MCU had a lighter tone than the version we see in the comics. The character’s journey of personal growth, redemption, and inner conflicts resonates with audiences.
The God of Thunder’s ability to wield the mighty Mjolnir and control thunder and lightning, also makes him visually stunning and entertaining to watch. Surely, it would be exciting to see Earth-56337’s Thor iteration in the MCU.
