During a 2017 interview, when there were speculations that Daniel Craig was going to retire as James Bond, Chris Hemsworth mentioned that he thinks Fast X actress, Charlize Theron, would be perfect for the role. The Thor actor worked with Theron in Snow White and the Huntsman. While the news is more relevant now than it was back then, with Craig having recently retired, Hemsworth’s assessment as to why Theron would be fit for the suit of 007 is something we can get behind.
“She embodies every sort of ounce of strength and nobility and dignity and integrity that that character should have. She’s smart as hell. She’s physically able. I worked with her on Snow White and the Huntsman. Watching her in those fight scenes, doing it in high heels, by the way, and an eight-foot-long gown was even more impressive.”
The actor believes that Theron can already embody the character in the perfect way, being able to portray Bond’s strength, nobility, integrity, and dignity, She is also in peak physical shape, so the fight sequences will not be difficult for her. Hemsworth also released that in their 2012 movie, Theron did all of her fight scenes herself in high heels and a really long gown, a skill that could surely come in handy if she were to step into the role of James Bond.
Would Charlize Theron Be A Good James Bond?
Aside from Chris Hemsworth making an excellent argument on Charlize Theron’s behalf as to why she would be fit to play James Bond, another reason the actress could be perfect for the role is her work in her 2017 movie, Atomic Blonde, where she plays an MI6 spy. The actress also has a reputation for being very good at her stunts and wanting to do as much as she can herself, as mentioned by Hemsworth as well as her work in Mad Max: Fury Road.
Another reason why the actress would be perfect for the role of 007 is her ability to bounce back from injury. This was seen as the actress had to get oral surgery due to an injury while training for her 2017 spy movie. This skill is definitely a requirement for the role of James Bond as Daniel Craig has had difficulty himself after almost quitting his role in this franchise after sustaining a few injuries while filming his 2015 Bond movie Spectre.
