Channing Tatum and Sandra Bullock? No one could have even imagined this on-screen pairing being fun and a hit with audiences. But The Lost City proved every doubter wrong. Also, both the actors admitted to being great friends with each other in real life. In part, thanks to their daughters being strong-headed and getting into trouble.
But also because Tatum never failed to make Bullock laugh when they were filming The Lost City. In fact, the Miss Congeniality actress laughed so much that Tatum’s effort and hard work were completely wasted. But Sandra Bullock was happy, so that’s a net positive gain always!
Channing Tatum Made Sandra Bullock Laugh So Much His Dialogues Got Deleted
During the SXSW premiere of The Lost City, Sandra Bullock revealed that there was a scene where Channing Tatum‘s improvised lines made her burst out laughing. In the scene, Brad Pitt and Tatum rescue Bullock’s character from an eccentric billionaire’s evil goons. They then put her in a car. The director asked the Dog actor to improvise and he did, which resulted in funny lines.
One would think that those hilarious lines would have made the final cut. But they didn’t because the Bird Box actress’ laugh ruined the shots. So none of those lines could be used. She said:
“There’s a scene where they have to get me to a car. He and that other actor — I can never remember his name, he’s got blond hair. The directors had Channing ad-lib lines to us, and none of his lines were used because I was laughing so hard.”
As for what kind of lines the Magic Mike actor was spouting, Bullock gave an example and said, “When the shepherd goes to pie, you eat it.” However, the first meeting of the two stars wasn’t as funny because both of them met at the principal’s office.
Channing Tatum And Sandra Bullock Met At The School Principal’s Office
During a Vanity Fair interview, Channing Tatum revealed that he and Sandra Bullock met each other at their children’s school. Also, they were in the principal’s office because their kids had gotten into trouble with each other. He explained:
“Our daughters got into a couple of scraps at school because they’re both very, very, very strong-willed little girls and yeah, it was, it was fun. It was a very fun year that year. They love each other now, literally can’t like get enough of each other, they just want to hang out all the time.”
Bullock confirmed that now both their kids want to have sleepovers at each other’s homes. While The Lost City wasn’t the hit many expected it to be, grossing only $182 million on a $74 million budget, fans still hope to see a sequel to it. Whether that happens or not remains to be seen.
The Lost City is available on Paramount+.
