Channing Tatum may be one of the biggest stars at the moment but even he can get starstruck. Fans find themselves speechless all the time when they first get to meet their heroes and favorite celebrities. More often than not, they can even say some of the stupidest things which they later regret. Ironically enough, the actor who managed to leave Tatum tongue-tied was none other than Matt Damon.
The actor has done some of the biggest movies and done one blockbuster to another. Tatum has found himself in iconic roles and become a fan favorite. However, even he can take a step back no matter how big of an actor he becomes. His excitement got the best of him and he said something he regret instantly.
Channing Tatum Asked Matt Damon A Silly Question
Channing Tatum worked with Matt Damon years before he skyrocketed to fame. Side Effects was a rare opportunity for the Magic Mike star to work with the Bourne Identity star. It was the first time he ever got to work with the actor and he was absolutely struck with mesmerizing happiness when he got an opportunity to talk to him.
“I’m just beside myself. I’m such a fan, and still am. I sat down next to him, and I was like, ‘Hey, man. Where are you from?’ — and I was like ‘I just asked Matt Damon where he’s from.'”
They had all gathered in a hotel bar and Damon was with the director, Steven Soderbergh, and they were all drinking and chatting. That was until Tatum tried approaching the actor and the first question that came out of his mouth was where Damon was from. He regretted his decision instantaneously and did not know if he could recover from the embarrassing moment. Everyone knows where the Oscar-winning actor is from and he just asked something silly.
Matt Damon Understood Channing Tatum’s Nervousness
Matt Damon was more than kind to see how Channing Tatum was fumbling. He took it as an opportunity to try his best and calm the actor down. He gently answered his question and reiterated the same to him, asking where Tatum was from.
“He just took care of me in that moment and answered me. It was like nothing ever happened. He was just like, ‘Oh, I’m from Boston. Where are you from?’ and I was like, ‘I’m from Florida.’ In my head I just kept screaming: ‘I’m sorry. I’m sorry!'”
The entire exchange only increased Tatum’s respect for Damon and while he kept apologizing for what he said in his head. The two were more than happy to talk to each other and this became one of the most memorable moments for him.
