While the Star Wars film series appears to be the most renowned and profitable franchise in the world, it is hard to believe that the two luminaries, Carrie Fisher and James Earl Jones never actually met while filming. Although their characters appeared in the original trilogy of films, the actors were acquainted much later in life.
Despite sharing a few scenes with Darth Vader in Star Wars (1977), Carrie Fisher never actually met the person behind the iconic Vader mask. Although there were several Star Wars press events, the duo still never met. Evidently, after 37 years, The Big Bang Theory united the onscreen father-daughter duo.
Carrie Fisher Never Met James Earl Jones While Filming
Given the greatness of the Star Wars franchise, fans believed in the deep bond between the co-stars. However, in real life, it turned out to be completely different, as the two luminaries Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia Organa) and James Earl Jones (Darth Vader) never actually met in person.
Despite sharing several scenes, it turned out, the onscreen father-daughter duo didn’t even know each other in real life. While Fisher and Jones’ characters were in the original trilogy, the duo never bothered to know about each other. Since the actor delivered the voice of Darth Vader, during post-production, he actually never shared the screen with Carrie Fisher.
Even for the actress, Fisher never knew the man behind the voice of Darth Vader, despite acting throughout the movies. Evidently, the onscreen father-daughter duo, never physically shared the screen. However, although Fisher and Jones had the opportunity to meet during Star Wars press events, they still never did.
The Big Bang Theory United The Two Star Wars Actors
Following the end of Return of the Jedi (1983), Carrie Fisher and James Earl Jones never returned to the franchise, until its prequel and sequel trilogies. Thus, the duo never bothered to meet each other while filming the franchise. However, decades later, the onscreen father-daughter duo finally had the opportunity to meet face to face.
Appearing in an episode of The Big Bang Theory, Carrie Fisher and James Earl Jones were first introduced, nearly 37 years after their characters appeared onscreen. The Star Wars actors met in real life in Season 7, Episode 14 of the US sitcom. While the scene was certainly epic for the Star Wars fanatic Sheldon Cooper, it was indeed the first time Fisher and Jones crossed paths.
Carrie Fisher’s reaction was truly authentic and filled with excitement as the actress raised her arms in the air and called out, “Daddy!.” Although fans were shocked to know, that the duo who shared screen for years, never actually met in real life; the moment turned out to be truly cherishing. All thanks to The Big Bang Theory for bringing Fisher and Jones together and rectifying their bad luck of never crossing paths in real life.
