Captain Marvel Star Brie Larson Wanted To Quit Acting for College After Failing Auditions: “OK, that’s it”

Following the actress’ constant struggle during her initial phase in the industry, the Captain Marvel star expressed that she reconsidered her dream of being an accomplished actress.

The Captain Marvel actress revealed that before making it big in Hollywood, she was always in doubt about her skills and thought she was delusional for thinking of making it big in the industry. And considering her subsequent failures at auditions at the time, she eventually decided to apply for colleges instead.

Brie Larson reconsidered her decision of being an actress after failing auditions

During her early days in the industry, Brie Larson struggled to land big roles and was failing several auditions. But after she was initially rejected from the role of Kate Gregson from the United States of Tara, Larson decided to apply for colleges and almost gave up on her acting career. She stated,

“I’d hit the point where I’d go, ‘OK, that’s it. That’s the last dollar. I’ve got to quit or go to college or whatever.’ But that day or the next day, something would happen that would make it strangely apparent I’m supposed to keep doing this a bit longer. It’s never failed that the second I hit the last dollar, something turns around,”

However, at the time when Larson finally decided to apply to colleges, things ultimately changed for the better after she was called again to audition for the role of Kate Gregson.

United States of Tara gave Brie Larson’s career the boost that she needed

After initially being rejected from the role, Brie Larson was soon called back to audition for the role of Kate Gregson, and this time she was able to grab the opportunity and star in all three seasons of the show.

Following her success in the United States of Tara, the Marvel actress then went on to star in 21 Jump Street, which went on to garner $200 million at the box office. The actress also starred in an indie drama Short Term 12 that earned the attention of Lenny Abrahamson, who went on to cast her in 2015’s Room, which garnered Larson an Oscar win for Best Actress.
