During the premiere of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Spider-Man producer, Amy Pascal revealed that the much-awaited live-action Miles Morales movie is currently in development. As it’s all happening, an online debate erupted as a fan asked to stop devaluing animation, while others chimed in to express that Miles Morales’ movie is a live adaptation of the comic character.
Miles Morales Is The Second Spider-Man To Appear In Ultimate Marvel
Former Sony Chairperson, Amy Pascal, who produced Spider-Man: Homecoming, recently revealed that Sony is all set to develop a live-action Miles Morales movie. Promoting Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Amy Pascal responded to the question of whether the 2011 character would get to take up the mantle of Spider-Man: “You’ll see all of it. It’s all happening.”
Miles Gonzalo Moralem Marvel Comic’s 2011 character, created by Sara Pichelli, first appeared in 2011 in Ultimate Fallout #4. The character drew inspiration from Donald Grover and former President Barack Obama, appearing after Peter Parker’s death. As the news of the much-awaited live-action film comes out, the internet started buzzing with conflicting views.
Apart from this project, Sony is geared up to expand the Spider-Man brand with spin-offs such as Kraven the Hunter and Madame Web, both slated for release in 2024. Additionally, Tom Holland’s fourth Spider-Man film is also allegedly in development.
Marvel’s Most Famous Comic Superhero’s Live-Adaptation Gets Defended
After the news of the live adaptation of the African-American Spider-Man broke out, one fan tweeted: “Can we stop de-valuing animation please? Thank you.” After this tweet, many Twitter users came forward and reminded that Miles Morales’ upcoming project is a live-action of the characters of Marvel’s comic book.
One Marvel fan tweeted: “its a live action of the character from the comics… not the animated spider-verse Miles.” Another suggested: “can’t they just do another separate animated comic adaptation then?? Having it be live action is unnecessary.”
But again, the Marvel fan, who ignited these comments, gave a befitting reply, suggesting that Sony must make a separate “comic accurate animated movie” instead, adding: “These 30 year olds need to swallow the respect animation as a medium pill.” Here are some of the tweets:
As for the computer-animated Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse(2023), featuring Miles Morales, the $100 million movie is scheduled to release on June 2, 2023.
