Fans are super excited about this film as they believe that it has the potential to become one of the most beautiful comic book adaptations out there. Fans Welcome Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow
James Gunn and Peter Safran announced a ton of projects for DCU’s new chapter and the list has something for everyone. However, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow seems to be one project that has everyone on board. With Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, Supergirl aka Kara Zor-El will finally be getting her long-awaited solo film after many, many years. Previously, we saw the character lead the film in Director Jeannot Szwarc’s Supergirl which was released in 1984. Since fans are getting an announcement for a solo movie after nearly four decades, we can totally understand their excitement, especially since the source material is so promising. Check out what fans on Twitter have to say about this.
The Supergirl that we are all well-versed with right now is from CW’s Supergirl series where the character was played by Melissa Benoist. However, taking Gunn’s words about the project into account, this upcoming movie will see Supergirl in a much harsher and tougher way than we have seen so far.
“Superman was sent to Earth, and, and he was raised by incredibly loving parents, whereas Kara was in Krypton, she was on a piece of Krypton that drifted away from the planet, and lived there for the first 14 years of her life among [a] horrible situation where she watched everybody around her die. So she’s a much harsher and more fu*ked up Supergirl than we’ve been used to this far.”
Therefore, it is absolutely exciting to think about where the story of the superhero is headed to. How her tragic past builds her personality is something we are all looking forward to seeing. With the excitement surrounding Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, it looks like the film is all set to be right up there with the fan-favorite Snyderverse films!
Tom King Responds to the Announcement
Following the unveiling of the slate, the writer of Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, Tom King, took to Twitter to express his gratitude. He stated that the book was small yet ambitious and that he was grateful for the fans who made the live-action adaptation possible.
King will also be a part of the equation when it comes to bringing the beautiful book to life. Gunn stated that the writer is one of the architects behind the situation and that he loves the take King has on characters.
“Tom has been one of the architects of this entire situation. He has been one of the guys in the room with us, along with four or five other writers, and I love his take on these characters where he just slightly turns them to be something very unique.”
With King on the bandwagon, the film will undoubtedly bring the best of the comic to life. We hope that the team can flawlessly bring the beautiful world of Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow to the big screen.
Since the movie is said to release two years after Superman: Legacy (July 11, 2025), we will probably see Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow sometime in 2027.
