Keanu Reeves has maintained his mega-stardom with movies like John Wick 4 and The Matrix Resurrections, and he is still quite busy in the Hollywood blockbuster industry. Meanwhile, Reeves has already been exploring further superhero roles and has discussed finding a part in the MCU that would work for him and Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige.
The actor already dipped his toes into the DC Universe with his voiceover work as Batman in the animated DC League of Super-Pets, he has tried his hand at other DC Universe subcultures, but Constantine has been on his mind for a very long time. Now that the co-CEOs of DC gave his project a green signal he could not be more excited.
Keanu Reeves begged DC for Constantine 2
Actor Keanu Reeves, who starred in Constantine (2005), made his first remarks about Constantine 2’s development at Warner Bros. In an interview with Total Film. Reeves joked that he was like Oliver Twist’s title character in asking the studio, “Can I please have some more?” as he described how much he enjoyed portraying the part in the first film. The actor divulged,
“I don’t know if it was unfinished business but it was definitely a role that I loved. And I thought that Francis Lawrence, the director, did such amazing work. I loved playing that character, and I really enjoyed the film. I was like, [adopts Oliver Twist voice] ‘Can I please have some more?'”
The actor continued, “I kept asking almost every year. I’d be like, ‘Can I please?’ [and] they’d be like, ‘No, no!'”
It was Reeves’ relentless insistence that finally DC had to give in. The first film did not do well in terms of Box Office collections or critic reviews. The studio is relying on Reeves’ stardom to bring in footfall.
Keanu Reeves opens up about his plans for the film

“So it’s exciting. It’s almost like an open playground that we can hopefully cook something up and play in, and I guess get out of the playground and prepare a meal. But I’m looking forward to it, and hopefully it can happen. You don’t know how these things go. But I’m definitely going to try my darndest to try and realize that dream.”
The story of Constantine 2 remains unclear as of now but there are a few casting rumors that came to light. The Constantine 2 cast is still unknown, although a few prominent actors have already been confirmed to be in the impending sequel.
It is uncertain if Peter Stormare will return to portray the Devil, but Keanu Reeves will reprise the role of the demonologist and supernatural exorcist John Constantine.
