Problems on the set of a film are nothing new, after all, there are bound to be clashes with hundreds of people working on a project. However, there are only a handful of times, production has been brought to a complete standstill with authorities getting involved. One movie has now been added to that list and unfortunately, it’s Cameron Diaz’s comeback film, Back in Action, with Jamie Foxx. The latter star has allegedly caused a mess by firing production members over theft allegations.
Cameron Diaz And Jamie Foxx’s Netflix Film Halts Production
The Sun reports that Back in Action, Cameron Diaz’s comeback film has halted production in London due to co-star Jamie Foxx firing multiple production people over an alleged plan to scam £33,000 out of him. Apparently, the accused has tried to extort money from wealthy stars in the past as well. Here’s what happened as per The Sun:
“This film has been a bit of a nightmare. One staffer has been sacked, and there are investigations after someone tried to get access to £33,000 in cash from Jamie Foxx. It sounds as though they tried to offer up a Rolex watch as part of the deal but now there’s an investigation into everything going on. People will be glad when this thing finally wraps.”
There are reports from other outlets alleging that Foxx has fired four staff members- an executive producer, a unit director, an assistant director, as well as his driver. Bosses on the film have launched an investigation into the alleged scam. The production troubles are mournful because it is Diaz’s first film after she announced her retirement from acting over 4 years ago.
The actress made 40 movies before settling down with her husband Benji Madden. Before returning to sets, she was busy with her family life and three-year-old daughter, Raddix Madden. Back in Action is a Netflix action-comedy movie directed by Seth Gordon (Horrible Bosses) and written by Brendan O’Brien (Neighbors).
Cameron Diaz Planning To Retire Again After Back In Action
Jamie Foxx announced Cameron Diaz’s return through a Twitter post with an audio recording of the actress expressing her excitement at coming back.
Here’s the tweet:
Back in Action won’t be Diaz’s first venture with Foxx. The duo have already starred together in two movies. The first one was Any Given Sunday (1999), and the second was Annie (2014).
During an interview with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show, the actress mentioned that she was excited to work with Foxx. She said:
“I did that for so long, it’s kind of like the process, I kind of just fell back into it. But it feels a little bit different. The last movie I made was Annie with Jamie, and so the first movie back is this film with Jamie. He’s so great, he’s so easy, he’s so professional, he’s so talented, and just being able to work with him.”
But The Sun reports that the current debacle has made her want to get back in retirement again. As per the site, “She hates drama and confrontation. This is why she retired in the first place.” It remains to be seen how the current problem gets solved.
Back in Action is speculated to release in early 2024.
