Jim Carrey is undoubtedly one of the most compelling faces of Hollywood thanks to his repertoire of lively slapstick performances and iconic roles that he’s portrayed on-screen. Even though the award-winning actor is now in his 60s, his work remains as timeless and precious as ever.
But after spending more than four flourishing decades in the film industry, Carrey might just be inching closer to retirement. Unless of course, there’s a script sublime enough to be able to convince him otherwise.

Jim Carrey on the Prospect of Retirement
A comical genius and a phenomenal actor, Jim Carrey has been a part of some of the most remarkable movies that have today come to be remembered as cult classics. Be it the eerie sci-fi comedy, The Truman Show, the spectacle of everyone’s childhood, Ace Ventura, or an evergreen movie like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, numerous such gemstones comprise Carrey’s career which is sprawled across more than forty years of struggle and success.
After spending more than half of his life in the spotlight, however, the comedian has been keen on bidding farewell to the business for good.
While promoting his most recent film, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, which made it to the big screens just last year, Carrey, 61, was asked about his thoughts on collaborating with Dolly Parton in a biopic. But as grateful as he was for the opportunity to work with the music icon, the Bruce Almighty star made it crystal clear that he had no intentions whatsoever to carry on with acting.
“Well, that’s a lovely thing, but I’m retiring,” Carrey told Access Hollywood. When asked if he was serious about retirement, he said, “I’m being fairly serious, yeah.” So, is there something that could nudge him into changing his mind? Yeah, a gilded script hand-delivered by angels. Literally.

Why Jim Carrey Doesn’t Want to Pick Up Acting Again
There is one condition under which he’d be willing to consider working on a new project, and that depends on “if the angels bring some sort of script that’s written in gold ink that says to [him] that it’s going to be really important for people to see.”
“I might continue down the road,” Carrey said. “But I’m taking a break.” For the most part though, he seems to be satiated with his career and doesn’t mind closing this chapter of his life after leading at least 57 films and accumulating a hefty net worth of about $180 million.
“I really like my quiet life and I really like putting paint on canvas and I really love my spiritual life and I feel like, and this is something you might never hear another celebrity say as long as time exists, I have enough. I’ve done enough. I am enough.”
Besides, who wouldn’t want a life adorned with art, spirituality, and peace?
