When the celebrated director James Gunn joined the realm of the DC verse, many heads turned. Fans have since then been excited to know how Gunn would contribute to the DC Universe after having done quite a lot for Marvel.
Numerous projects were announced and spearheaded by Gunn and Peter Safran back in January, one of them being Superman: Legacy. Although there have been numerous speculations and rumors, there has been no official statement yet. James Gunn took to Twitter recently to debunk fake rumors surrounding the movie.
James Gunn Debunks Fake Superman Rumors
With fans eager for the new take on the Superman mythos, rumors have been flying high. There have been many speculations ever since the movie was first announced. However, things have been getting out of hand, with fans giving uncalled-for hate to the creators. Gunn, who loves to interact with fans, took to Twitter after seeing the rumors getting a bit too wild.
“I’m getting barraged with bullshit DC rumors this morning. I’ll just reiterate the general rule not to believe anything unless it comes from me or Peter. But, unless it’s especially egregious, I’m going to slow down on calling shit out. (Sorry, I know, it’s one of my favorite traditions). There are three reasons for this: 1) Some people are making up lies to get attention from me or to get clicks & I don’t want to encourage that. 2) I’ve read a hundred rumors this morning. ONE of them is half-true. So I don’t want to be used as a way for people to throw nonsense at the wall until something sticks. 3) I’m storyboarding Superman Legacy and don’t have time! Have a great day!”
Later on in his follow-up tweet, James Gunn disclosed that Superman: Legacy hasn’t even completed its first draft yet. Whatever the rumors may be, we can certainly trust James Gunn to create a banger of a movie seeing his track in the Marvel Universe.
James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy: What Is It About?
While fans are disappointed with Henry Cavill getting fired from the Man of Steel role, they certainly can’t wait for the new Superman: Legacy. The upcoming movie, based on the comics of the same name, would be the third installment of Chapter One: Gods and Monsters. The plot would focus on Superman accommodating his earthly upbringing with his superhero heritage.
Superman reflects on the American ways of truth and justice while battling a world where kindness is no longer a necessity. While the cast hasn’t been confirmed yet, there is a rumor that this time, DC-verse would be getting a non-American Superman.
Superman: Legacy will release on July 11, 2025.
