American actress Brooke Shields aims to win Tom Cruise’s favor again before the holiday season. During a recent interview with PEOPLE, she revealed that she previously had the privilege to enjoy Cruise’s highly sought-after coconut Christmas cake.
According to Shields, who recently debuted her two-part Hulu documentary, Pretty Baby, she enjoyed a decade-long sting on the coveted list. She was thrilled to receive Cruise’s famous coconut cake every year.
What’s So Special About Tom Cruise’s Coconut Cake
The actress said that Tom Cruise has a long-running tradition of sending out the $126 bundt cake from Doan’s Bakery in Woodland Hills, California. The Mission Impossible star sends these cakes to his close friends every year on Christmas.
“It was from them and Suri, so it was the three of them, and then soon it was no Suri and no Katie and just Tom,” Shields said. “Then it went from just Tom for a while, but not every holiday. And then the cake stopped.”
Earlier, the cake was sent out by Cruise, his ex-spouse Katie Holmes, and their daughter Suri until the couple parted ways in 2012.
Shields And Cruise Have A History
Back in 2005, Cruise had voiced his disapproval of Brooke Shield‘s consumption of antidepressants. She was taking these drugs for postpartum depression following the birth of her son Rowan.
In response, the actress penned an op-ed piece for the New York Times. However, despite their clash, the duo managed to bury the hatchet. The duo even hosted their kids’ first birthday together.
“They invited us to their wedding,” Shields said. “And I was like ‘Hell, yes, I going.’ It was extraordinary.”
However, the actress still doesn’t know why she was removed from the cake list in recent years.
Who Else Is On Tom Cruise’s Coconut Cake List
Shields is one of the many celebrities who’ve had the privilege of getting on Tom Cruise’s cake list. During an appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, Jay Ellis, who starred in Top Gun: Maverick, revealed that he is among the fortunate individuals who have received the famous cake from the Hollywood superstar.
“It’s literally like getting a trophy,” said Ellis. “We get the cake every year. It’s always a surprise when you get it because you’re so excited to get it — and you wanna make sure you’re still on the gift list.”
Even Tom Hanks expressed his fondness for the famous cake during a Mythical Kitchen’s Last Meals episode. He said the cake is so delicious that it’s best to have it only once a year.
Hanks also joked about how Cruise’s cake has become a topic of discussion at his production company’s office. He stated that everyone in the office keeps an eye out for the arrival of that big box.
