Over the past 3 months, the ongoing Writers’ Strike in Hollywood has been occupying a significant chunk of the entertainment news. A labor initiative of the Writers Guild of America (WGA) representing more than 11,000 writers in the television and film space, the organization went into combat mode to demand better income and recognition for their services. Writers also called out the detrimental effects of AI tools like Chat GPT which could possibly displace them from their jobs.
In a historic move to support the writing community, the Hollywood acting fraternity has also gone on an Actors Strike to demand justice for writers as well as to point out the dangerous effects of artificial intelligence that is slowly but surely dominating the world. Among the many A-list stars who joined the cause, Breaking Bad actor Bryan Cranston showed his support and gave a powerful speech in Times Square that resonated with everyone.
Bryan Cranston’s Soul-Stirring Speech At The Actors Strike Rally
The Writers Guild Of America is getting unstinted support from the acting community whose members have also gone on strike to demand better pay and recognition. Big league stars like Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Margot Robbie, and Dwayne Johnson are just a few names who have backed the revolution. In a fiery and powerful speech that is now going viral, Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston openly declared war on the robotization of work which is now gradually rendering people jobless in every sphere. The Golden Globe winner spoke at a Times Square rally and made a powerful statement saying,
“We don’t expect you to understand who we are. But we ask you to hear us, and beyond that to listen to us when we tell you we will not be having our jobs taken away and given to robots. We will not have you take away our right to work and earn a decent living. And lastly, and most importantly, we will not allow you to take away our dignity! We are union through and through, all the way to the end!”
With regard to monetary benefits, Cranston added that it was time to move ahead to the future and let go of outdated notions that may have worked in the past but will not survive today. The star in no uncertain terms, said that the acting community will not stand for anything less than what was being demanded.
Bryan Cranston’s Next Film Is With Allison Janney
Even as he is passionately lending support to the Actors Strike, Bryan Cranston will be seen in his next project with another talented Hollywood actor Allison Janney. The Breaking Bad star and The West Wing actor will co-star in Scottish director Jon S. Baird’s Everything Is Going To Be Great. Baird is known for his critically acclaimed films like Tetris and Stan and Ollie. According to one of the film’s representatives,
“Everything Is Going to Be Great is a valentine to big dreamers whose dreams won’t necessarily come true. It’s about individuality vs. conformity, fantasy vs. reality; but mostly, it’s about family.”
The project went into production a couple of months ago in Canada. With Bryan Cranston’s reputation as a powerhouse performer and Allison Janney’s equally impressive record, fans of both stars will be eager to see them feed off each other on screen.
