After the success of Tom Cruise’s Top Gun: Maverick, the makers were excited to bring something similar to the fans of Formula 1. But the strike by SAG has forced the Brad Pitt movie to slow down after its filming is temporarily paused. The respective strikes by the writers and the screen actors have led Hollywood to delay tons of projects and the list only seems to get longer.
The upcoming Formula 1 movie was one of the most anticipated projects not only among Brad Pitt fans but everyone. The association of renowned British Formula 1 racer Lewis Hamilton as a producer and the Top Gun: Maverick director Joseph Kosinski elevated the hype of the fans.
When will Brad Pitt resume the filming of the movie?
As of now the upcoming racing movie based on a fictional driver Sonny Hayes played by Brad Pitt is still untitled. Even though ESPN reported the name to be Apex, the studio later redacted its statement. Now despite the rising anticipation for the movie, the fans were happy after the Fight Club star halted the filming to support the ongoing strike.
Pitt is one of the greatest names in the industry and is behind some of the best movies of all time. The two-time Oscar winner has once again won the hearts of his fans by showing solidarity with the actors who are lined against the unfair treatment by the studio and producers.
As one of the most renowned names in Hollywood, it is reported by The Sun that Brad Pitt supports the filming and has called the production to stop every activity for the next two months.
“Brad agreed that they would finish shoots booked in but has postponed planned production over the next two months. The cast and crew of Apex have been filming in Budapest but Brad has called for the future dates to be put back, in solidarity with everyone striking. Everyone has been informed that there will be a two-month hiatus now.”
It is reported to have a deep financial impact on the movie but the strike holds utmost importance to the Benjamin Button fame. Apex will reportedly start its filming in November in Las Vegas as everyone hopes the situation to normalise by that time. However, the rising talks about AI usage and the rigidness by the studios raise doubt about when will the strike end.
Was Will Smith close to leading the upcoming Formula 1 movie?
When the upcoming racing movie was announced at first, it was rumored that Will Smith could play the lead in the movie produced by Lewis Hamilton. As the British racer assured that the upcoming movie will be one of the “best racing movies ever”, Will Smith also took to his Instagram account to joke about it.
The Bad Boys star joked that he wasn’t approached by anyone from the movie but will have to work on himself if he gets a call.
“I haven’t been asked yet but I would love to. I might have to work on this gut though, it doesn’t fit in the car too well.”
Reports state that the movie will focus on Brad Pitt’s retired Formula 1 driver Sonny Hayes returning to mentor a rookie racer played by Damson Idris at the request of a friend. With the makers of the Tom Cruise movie involved in the project, we can expect Apex to have some stunning sequences.
