David Ayer’s 2014 World War 2 drama Fury starring Brad Pitt, Shia LaBeouf, Jason Issac, and Jon Bernthal follows an American tank crew in combat against their German counterparts. The movie did pretty well at the box office and also received favorable reviews. However, the cast of the film faced several issues while filming, one of which also included one of the cast members’ behavior. LaBeouf, who portrayed the tank gunner Boyd Swan in the movie, took some extreme measures to prepare for his character.
Several reports suggested that it was something his cast members were not very fond of his methods of approaching his character, and he even received a warning from the movie director and the Oscar-winning actor.
Brad Pitt Reportedly Warned His Fury Co-Star Shia LaBeouf
The Transformers star Shia LaBeouf starred alongside Brad Pitt, Jon Bernthal, Logan Lerman, and Jason Issac in the 2014 war action movie Fury. He opted for some measures to fit his character in the film, which were not too convenient for his co-stars.
The Fury actor Logan Lerman shared during an interview that LaBeouf cut his face, claiming that the scar made from makeup did not appear real. He also stated that he kept the wound open throughout the filming. And it was just one of the many things he did.
In order to replicate life on the frontline in the Second World War, he avoided washing up and even went on to remove one of his teeth. And with the rest of the cast members not feeling comfortable with his behavior, the 37-year-old actor received a warning from Pitt and the film director David Ayer.
“Shia was warned about his behavior by several people on set, including Brad Pitt and director David Ayer,” a source told Dailymail. However, despite their warnings, he continued doing the same and even stayed away from the rest of the cast in a small bed-and-breakfast hotel.
Brad Pitt Had to Intervene in Shia LaBeouf’s Argument
One of the infamous incidents from the set of the 2014 film involves an argument between Shia LaBeouf and Scott Eastwood. During an interview with GQ, that latter opened up about what happened on the set and how Brad Pitt had to intervene to calm things down.
He shared while filming a scene between his and Pitt’s characters, where he was expected to spit on a tank. However, it did not sit well with the Honey Boy actor. He got mad at Eastwood for doing so and turned the whole situation “into a volatile moment.”
He also shared that they almost got into a “fistfight,” before the Fight Club actor got in the middle and sorted things out. “Brad Pitt had to break it up!” the Overdrive star said before adding, “But I don’t get his deal. He wants to be a tough guy, I guess.”
The same claim was made regarding LaBeouf’s approach to his character. Sources shared that his method acting drove everyone mad on the set with the claim that he was trying to portray himself as the most dedicated actor in the film.
Fury is available on Prime Video.
