Brad Pitt is an internationally acclaimed actor known for his versatile performances and undeniable charisma. With a decades-long career, he has starred in numerous iconic films and has been recognized with prestigious awards. Pitt’s talent, good looks, and philanthropic efforts have made him a beloved figure in the entertainment industry.
During the promotion of his space drama Ad Astra, Brad Pitt engaged in a candid conversation with CNN journalist Christiane Amanpour. In this interview, Pitt shared a remarkable incident from 1995 when he confronted Harvey Weinstein after learning about the s*xual harassment of his then-girlfriend, Gwyneth Paltrow, endured.
Brad Pitt Confronted Harvey Weinstein For His Behavior
Acting on pure instinct, Brad Pitt explained that his upbringing shaped his actions. Paltrow previously revealed on The Howard Stern Show in May 2018 that Pitt approached Weinstein during the 1995 Broadway opening of Hamlet and issued a stern warning: “If you ever make her feel uncomfortable again, I’ll kill you.”
“At that moment, I was just a boy from the Ozarks on the playground, and that’s how we confronted things,” Pitt told Amanpour. “I just wanted to make sure nothing was going to happen further because Paltrow was going to do two [more] films [with Weinstein]. I think the interesting thing is that we, Hollywood specifically, but the workplace, men’s and women’s dynamics, are being recalibrated, recalibrated in a long overdue and very good way. And I do think that’s an important story to tell.”
In October 2017, Gwyneth Paltrow first disclosed the incident involving Brad Pitt and Harvey Weinstein to The New York Times. The Academy Award-winning actress, renowned for her role in Shakespeare in Love, revealed that she had experienced s*xual harassment from Weinstein at the age of 22.
Harvey Weinstein Hired Gwyneth Paltrow For A Lead Role
When Harvey Weinstein cast Gwyneth Paltrow as the lead in his film adaptation of Jane Austen’s Emma, he arranged a “work meeting” at the Peninsula Beverly Hills Hotel. However, Paltrow recounts that the encounter took an uncomfortable turn as Weinstein placed his hands on her and proposed a move to the bedroom for a massage.
Disturbed by the incident, Paltrow confided in Brad Pitt, who took immediate action. At the premiere of Hamlet, Pitt confronted Weinstein, delivering a stern warning that served as a protective gesture towards Paltrow and demonstrated his intolerance for such misconduct.
“It was the equivalent of throwing him against the wall, energetically,” Paltrow told Howard Stern about Pitt’s confrontation. “It was so fantastic because what he did was he leveraged his fame and power to protect me at a time when I didn’t have fame or power yet. He’s the best.”
Ad Astra is available for streaming on Fubo TV.
