A remake of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s hit 2005 action comedy movie, Mr. and Mrs. Smith is all set to be released later this year. The only catch is, it is going to be a TV mini-series instead of a movie. Donald Glover and Maya Erskine will be playing the iconic roles of husband and wife assassins of John Smith and Jane Smith in the series and a recent first look of the series was released earlier today.
The first look Mr. and Mrs. Smith remake was released recently
A first look at the upcoming remake series of Mr. and Mrs. Smith was released earlier today by Rotten Tomatoes on Twitter and the reactions from fans have not been great as such as many left wondering why is there a need for a remake of this classic movie which is already perfect in its own league.
Although the details about the upcoming remake series have been kept under wraps, it is highly speculated that Donald Grover will most likely have a lot more in his series than just following the script of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s movie from 2005.
Mr. & Mrs. Smith will be released in November later this year on Amazon Prime Video.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie first met on the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith
Back in the mid-2000s, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were the star couple in Hollywood. Having met on the set of the movie Mr. and Mrs. Smith, the duo quickly sparked dating rumors after Pitt’s divorce from Jennifer Anniston. Although their marriage eventually fell apart and went down as one of the ugliest celebrity breakups in history, the couple was madly in love with each other in the 2000s.
Angelina Jolie once opened up about her meeting up with Brad Pitt on the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith with Vogue and revealed that she turned into a workaholic so that she could spend more and more time with the Fight Club actor. She said,
“I think a few months in I realized, God, I can’t wait to get to work. Whether it was shooting a scene or arguing about a scene or gun practice or dance class or doing stunts—anything we had to do with each other, we just found a lot of joy in it together and a lot of real teamwork. We just became kind of a pair.”
However, their love story did not have a happy ending in the end. In 2016, Angelina Jolie filed for divorce from Brad Pitt. After that, things got way too messy with their custody lawsuit and constant allegations of domestic abuse and violence. Jolie also decided to sell her share of Château Miraval that Pitt was saving as an investment for their 6 kids. The ex-couple first bought the South France estate together for $28.4 million in 2008.
