After their infamous and ugly defamation case, Johnny Depp and Amber Heard have decided to choose a path that is miles away from the glare of the public eye. Especially the American eyes. While both Hollywood actors steered clear from the USA, the question that troubled many was why did they choose to relocate to the same continent?
On one hand, Heard chose to embrace tranquility in Spain, while Depp sought solace in rural England. And even though both the actors decided to leave their life in America behind them, they are now living in the same continent of Europe.

Europe allowed Johnny Depp to just be himself
After the trial, Johnny Depp decided to focus on his musical career. However, after the demise of his friend Jeff Beck, Depp uprooted himself from his life in the United States and relocated to Somerset. In the April issue of Somerset Life, the Pirates of the Caribbean actor revealed,
“I just love places with character. I have various houses in various places and they all mean something special to me. I don’t have them just to say I own them, I have them for use and because they are a bit special.”
Moreover, it felt that in England, Depp might have finally found the contentment he was looking for. Sharing how now he can live comfortably away from the spotlight, the 59-year-old actor continued,
“I can go into shops without being surrounded by people wanting selfies. I don’t mind that up to a point, but sometimes it gets a little too crowded. That’s one of the great things about Britain, and especially Somerset. I can just be me — and that’s nice.”
Apart from this, Depp also expressed his affection for the English countryside. Almost three and a half hours away from London, Depp’s £13 million Somerset estate is set across 850 acres of land and boasts twelve bedrooms and eight bathrooms.

Amber Heard found serenity in Europe following legal battles
Reportedly, Amber Heard moved out of the US after her legal battle and subsequent $1 million settlement in the defamation case against her ex-husband, Johnny Depp. Heard relocated to Madrid, Spain along with her two-year-old daughter Oonagh Paige.
In a viral TikTok video, the Aquaman actress was seen interacting with some local news reporters, sharing how she loves Spain and wishes to be staying there for a while. Before the viral video surfaced online, a Hollywood insider told People that Heard “couldn’t wait to leave the U.S. with her daughter.” Furthermore, the insider revealed,
“She has been living in Spain, where she gets more privacy. The trial was beyond stressful for her and she just wanted to start fresh out of the country. She is excited about working and filming again. She was exhausted and disappointed about the trial. She felt she was mistreated. This is all behind her now, though. She has new energy and is focused on things that she loves.”
As Amber Heard enjoys her tranquility in Spain and Johnny Depp rejoices in his time out of the spotlight, it will be interesting to see how the two move ahead with their respective careers. While Depp was last seen in the French movie Jeanne Du Barry, Heard will be next seen in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom slated to release in December 2023.
