Blunder From Ryan Gosling's Most Romantic Moment With Ex-girlfriend Rachel McAdams in 'The Notebook' Will Ruin Your Day

The Notebook, a 2004 romantic drama, directed by Nick Cassavetes, is one of Hollywood’s most romantic films, which enjoyed a distinct fan base for a number of reasons. First off, the narrative is based on the same-titled book by Nicholas Sparks. And secondly, intriguingly, the lead actors—Ryan Gosling (Noah Calhoun) and Rachel McAdams (Allison ‘Allie’ Calhoun) —had shared a sweet love relationship in real life as well.

Thus, the film was made even better by their on-screen sizzling chemistry. It was interesting to see how similar their on-screen relationships were. And because of this, The Notebook became one of the most romantic films ever.

Following the release of their film, Gosling and McAdams began dating. But, they eventually broke up in 2007. Even, there were reports that they did not get along well while filming The Notebook.

Anyway, we were really in awe for weeks because of the romantic plot, chemistry, and Allie and Noah’s enduring love.

However, there were also significant ‘blunders’ in one of the most romantic scenes in the film. Did you notice that?

Ryan Gosling And Rachel McAdams Had Trouble Getting Along on set

The Notebook, a classic romantic drama based on a Nicholas Sparks book, was adapted by director Nick Cassavetes in 2004. The story followed Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams ‌as Noah Calhoun and Allison ‘Allie’ Calhoun, respectively, as they overcome obstacles and showed how true love knows no bounds.

But, believe it or not, Gosling and McAdams had such intense on-set conflict that he attempted to have her fired. The director of The Notebook, Nick Cassavetes, once claimed that the Canadian actor asked for a replacement for McAdams, who played his co-star in the love story.

Cassavetes claimed that 150 other people were present when this incident happened. Therefore, it is reasonable to assume that it took place at the carnival where Noah and Allie first met.

Like their characters, Gosling and McAdams initially had trouble getting along. The 64-year-old director told VH1:

“Maybe I’m not supposed to tell this story, but they were really not getting along one day on set. Really not. And Ryan came to me, and there are 150 people standing in this big scene, and he says, ‘Nick come here.’ And he’s doing a scene with Rachel, and he says, ‘Would you take her out of here and bring in another actress to read off camera with me?’ I said, ‘What?’ He says, ‘I can’t. I can’t do it with her. I’m just not getting anything from this.’”

However, Gosling and McAdams continued to have a passionate relationship after The Notebook, proving that life imitates art.

When Did The Notebook’Blunder Scenes Happen

Despite the fact that the 2004 movie has a lot of intimate scenes, one of the most memorable ones was when Noah Calhoun hung from the Ferris wheel while insisting Allie Calhoun go out with him. As this was taking place, the microphone on Ryan Gosling’s shirt was clearly visible on the back.

Another blunder from the same scene occurred as Allie and her friend were having fun on the carnival’s bumper cars. Instead of calling Rachel McAdams by the name of her character, the actress’ friend yelled out “Rachel!”.

Moreover, the movie would not have been made unless they were able to find the ideal actress to play Allie, according to a behind-the-scenes video for The Notebook.

Gosling was the perfect choice to play Noah, according to director Nick Cassavetes. But there would be no point in making the movie at all if they could not find a female lead who had the ideal chemistry with the Drive actor.

Mark Johnson, a co-producer, once said in a behind-the-scenes interview:

“We tested 10 actresses with Ryan. Nine of them were very well known. We went around with a video camera and looked for people that were working and interrupted them from their movies, and some of them were really, really great. But when Ms. McAdams came in and read, it was apparent that she was the one.”

The movie became a cult classic in the years after it was released. It was a sleeper hit at the box office, earning over $117 million against a $29 million budget.
