While the good old times of the 80s and 90s were filled to the brim with amazing action stars such as Jean-Claude Van Damme, Sylvester Stallone, and Arnold Schwarzenegger, there was one man who was equally as impressive as these buff badas*es. Steven Seagal was the man that could rival the popularity and influence of these timeless stars with relatable ease if he wanted to.
But as time went by, the popularity of the Hollywood hunk slowly started to dwindle, and in the present, there are few words left with the public that shows him in a positive light. Therefore, it might not come as a surprise that many people from the industry have some interesting and colorful things to say about the star, especially when they hear the tales from Saturday Night Live.
Steven Seagal Was The Worst SNL Host Ever!
Throughout the long and illustrious history of NBC’s long-running show Saturday Night Live, there have been numerous hosts on the sets that have made the almost 50-year journey of the series memorable. But there have been some that have made it memorable in a negative way, including the old-time action star Steven Seagal, who is known to be one of the most hated people in the industry, and the debacle on the sets of SNL just reveals why that is the case.

During an episode of the late-night show, cast member Julia Sweeney recalled an incident where the Under Seige star was provided with a sketch for his character in the satire that they were about to shoot, and Seagal was visibly upset by what he had to perform. But rather than talking about it with the crew or the showrunner, he just locked himself up in his dressing room and acted like an intolerable child. Not only did it ruin the atmosphere, but it also hampered the schedule of the show. She said:
“[Seagal was] so horrible on such a scale, it was such a huge scale of terribleness that it was undeniable by anyone who was there, it was really legendary craziness.”
A similar statement was also heard from SNL‘s showrunner Lrone Michales’ mouth when during an episode, Nicolas Cage claimed that he might be the “Biggest jerk who’s ever been on the show.” the creator had invited, to which the Michaels said “No, no. That would be Steven Seagal.”

Why Is Steven Seagal Hated So Much By Everyone?
Once a proud and respected individual in the Hollywood industry, the actions as well as the mannerisms that the actor started to display in the later parts of his career were the reasons for his downfall. While the audience started to get tired of the same old character type he used to portray in his films over and over, Seagal also became known to be brash and intimidating around others in interviews while also being quick to criticize someone. At the same time, there have been numerous cases where he has gone to extremes, like barging into a house with a military tank.
