James Gunn is known to be quite active on social media as he often interacts with fans and shares updates about his upcoming projects. The filmmaker has been doing the same as he works on his first DCU film, Superman: Legacy. However, there have been instances when sharing his thoughts and opinions has backfired on the DC Studios boss. Something similar happened after some of his old comments about several of the Batman movies recently resurfaced from his Facebook account.
It was followed by the deactivation of his Facebook account, leading many to believe that the resurfaced comments were the reason behind the deactivation. However, Gunn debunked such claims on Threads, stating that he has not been on Facebook in so long.
James Gunn Debunks Facebook Deactivation Speculations
James Gunn’s personal Facebook account recently went down after several of his comments about Tim Burton and Christopher Nolan’s Batman movies resurfaced. The comments state that the 1989 film was “poorly written” and called it “one of the most boring films ever.” The resurfaced comments also said that Michael Keaton’s Batman had “a ridiculous voice.”
The resurfaced comments further said, “f*ck you, everyone involved in that travesty,” talking about Jack Nicholson’s Joker. However, it did not end with Tim Burton’s movie only. He further shares his issues with Nolan’s Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, saying, “I don’t think either one is classic, and I don’t even really think Batman Begins is good.”
As the Facebook account went down after these comments resurfaced, it was believed that the DC Studios head deactivated his account. However, the filmmaker denied such claims via Threads, as he shared that his account had been hacked, and he has not been able to recover it because he hasn’t “been on FB in so long.”
“What happens… and then the broad assumptions made. I haven’t been on FB in so long I don’t even know how to answer the questions to get back on.”

However, the Super director has also been receiving support from his fans, as they claim, “Who cares if he didn’t like a thing that most of us liked?” They also said that he had his opinions, and the comments date back to “11 years ago,” suggesting that his views on the movies may have changed over the years.
Many also claimed that it would only give Snyderverse fans an opportunity to criticize the filmmaker, saying, “Bet the Synderbots will be celebrating this on Twitter.” They said that the Snyderverse fans will continue doing such things as they “only want the Snyderverse version of DC” and believe that Warner Bros will eventually hire Zack Snyder once again.
